Not the first day of school I had planned...

Today was the first day of our homeschool.  Hmmm....  It did not go as well, nor as smoothly as I had hoped.  Oh, we ended precisely at 12 noon, but Seth's mind was not on his lessons.  All the math skills that he learned last year are no where to be found.  Sigh....  I know this is just the first day, so I am going to, of course, give him some more time to settle in and get back into the schooling routine.  Anyway, first day down--only 179 to go!

I did feel sort of sorry for Seth today, though--nothing actually went his way.  He didn't feel as bad about it as I did, but I could still see the struggle and disappointment in his face.  First, his math--which is his favorite subject did go well.  Secondly, he couldn't concentrate on his reading--he got bored with history.  Thirdly, he wasn't able to make a purchase at a local Christian bookstore because the sale doesn't start until the 6th!  Fourthly, we went to get some ice cream to celebrate our first day of school, and the shop did not have his favorite ice cream.  Fifthly, I broke the sword of is new toy!  I just wasn't his day.  He seemed to take it all in stride though.  I told him not to worry about his math--that will all come back.  (soon I hope)  Reading will do the same.  We will go back to the store this weekend.   He was able to get his second favorite ice cream--cookies and cream.  I fixed his little sword, so the day wasn't a total loss.  Again, he said it wasn't a bad day--Seth has a sweet heart!

Well, that is about it at the Beale Bungalow.  Good night and God Bless!!
