An evening of Baked Speghetti and family...

Yesterday was all directed towards the evening meal.  My Donnie's eldest daughter, husband and little daughter, Abby were coming to supper.  They are down for a vacation from New York.  I also invited Donnie's eldest son, Lee to come, so most of the family was present and accounted for.  We don't get to see Susan, Matt and Abby very often, so I have them over for a meal when they do come down.  I must say that I am always nervous because I want everything to be nice, and I want my husband to be honored with the meal and family togetherness.

Well, everything came together and all was wonderful.  My menu of baked speghetti, spinach and tortellini salad, garlic toasted french bread, and grapes----peanut butter pie for dessert was a success! Believe me, I was relieved.  For a perfectionist like me, having people over is such a nerve shocking time.  I do not have the gift of hospitality, at all.  Anyway, the evening was a complete success.  Everyone liked the food.  The conversation was uplifting, and I know that my Donnie was honored by the efforts of his wife.  (He told me so!--sigh..)

I am very tired this morning---I think it is more of that calm relief feeling, so I am just going to do some laundry from the dinner last night and work on Seth's upcoming school lessons.  It is still somewhat overcast this morning, so the calmness of the day is even in the sky!

I hope everyone has a wonderfully calm day today!

                                     God Bless!!

Lovely to read about your successful meal with the family - it sounds as though you're a very good hostess, and I'm sure the dinner was delicious! Extended family gatherings are such fun.

Thanks for adding me as a friend, by the way - I hadn't commented on your blog before but I've been enjoying reading your posts.

Best wishes,
Jo

Your dinner sounds wonderful. For some reason I get anxious and nervous when cooking for others too, but it always turns out just fine, so I am not sure why. LOL

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo
