Hello and Welcome to South of the Gnat Line at Homesteadblogger.com!! I am so excited to be moving over here and can not wait to get started!! I am so looking forward to sharing what little we've learned about hobby farming and homesteading since our big move to rural Georgia and am more excited about what we stand to learn from everyone here!!!
It is hard to believe we have now been living our dream of Jacobs Farm just two years this December!! WOW! Some days, it seems like we've been here all our lives and other days, it feels like only months (.....probably because we still have unpacked boxes all over the basement.......[blushing]..). Doesn't really matter, I'll always have a lifetime "to-do list"; I believe I'm at somewhere in the 800 numbers on my list as I type here!!
To date, we are a 36 acre family homestead and have 4 dogs, a dozen farm felines and a modest flock of heirloom chickens that, quite frankly, I simply cannot live without eva again! (...so sayeth Scarlett....). Anything we have learned about farm life, we have learned by the sweat of our brows and soreness of our muscles, all the while flying by the seat of our pants! We give credence to "ignorance is bliss"!
We are in the process of clearing our upper 26 acres for additional fencing and are currently "entrenched" in research for acquiring dairy and all purpose goats, miniature donkeys, two (2) pigs, maybe "3 or 4" sheep and perhaps a "handful" of beef cattle. We are also planning to increase our flock of chickens with plans to breed, incubate and raise our own independent future stock. We currently sell "Farm Fresh Brown Eggs" to the public. I would also love to return to raising Dutch Bunnies (I have a thing about black and white animals......I just can't help myself....) and the guys want to raise worms and try to start their own "bait business". One thing about homesteading, you never know on any given day what can happen or where your interests may take you!
Meanwhile, please bare with me while I am in transition from Homeschoolblogger.com to full-time Homesteadblogger ~ just for South of the Gnat Line that it....I'll still be busy with Jacobs Academy and Jacobs Hollow over there and keeping busy here at home, too!! Whew!
I wish you and yours a very Merry CHRISTmas. May the Lord bless you and your family this CHRISTmas and throughout the New Year!
