Funeral services for Elvis the single comb, brown leghorn rooster of Jacobs Farm were held Saturday, January 13, 2007 on the lower west end of the Farm overlooking the creek in the sanctioned pet cemetery. He was laid to rest next to Br’er Fox – among others.
Elvis’ memory will remain steadfast like the others before him that have become much of the mystical essence of Jacobs Farm. He was special in that he had a true sense of loyalty to his flock and was dedicated to his owners – always running interference between his arch rival “Roo” and his evil attempts to spur the Jacobs.
While his passing was sudden, it came as no surprise inasmuch as Elvis never made a full emotional or physical recovery from the all too well known New Year’s Eve massacre last year. In the end, he maintained his dignity and was considerate enough to find his way to a nesting box to fall asleep and drift away. Elvis was three years old.
At the request of the flock: in lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity in memory of Elvis.

It is always so sad to loose any pet. He was a beauty. I am looking for a roo for my girls right now.
