When Black-Eyed Peas & Seafood Salad Don't Mix

Posted in Holidays

I could kick myself in the rear from here to the Mason Dixon.......I NEVER (no never) buy anything already made and mixed and especially from a certain "big box" store.........well, guess what? I did just that very [stupid] thing.

Y'all know I told you how proud I was to eat my "2007 black eyed peas" the other day....?

What I failed to mention was that my peas had been preceded the evening before by a lovely heaping helping of none other than store bought, prepared seafood salad.......

Seafood salad that was..............

Tainted?

or Spoiled?

or Rotten?

I'll go with rotten because that is how I have felt when I lost the 2007 peas I ate.....for days....

and days...

...try all this week.

If the U.S. really wants to win the war in Iraq, put down those weapons, put on a gracious Southern pageant smile and serve Al Quaida some seafood salad on a Saltine, or better yet, a Ritz...........Honey, they'll be droppin' like flies.

Great day in the morning!

I have been green around the gills all week until finally yesterday the alien abductees returned my stomach to its proper place.  Though I must say, I remain a bit gun shy when I look at food and my coffee still doesn't taste right; talk about an abrupt New Year's diet plan.  Surely, I'll be back to my normal closet eating habits by next Wednesday..... y'all think?

Think somebody was trying to tell me something? or somebody's "body" (like - mine...)?

As in - don't buy and eat prepared seafood salad............ever again?  Something I already knew better than to do but had a weak moment......you know, that person who writes here and tells things like, "I'm giving up sugar and converting to honey and eating fresh vegies we grow in our garden..."  However, she failed to mention that she secretly gorges on chocolate candy during the 12 days of Christmas and buys and eats rotten prepared seafood salad......

Oh, the shame of it all.

Sniff, sniff.....please accept my confessions herein.....sniff.

Harriette

January 6, 2007 - Oh, so sorry

Posted by MrsBurns
Dear Harriette, dear sweet Harriette.....that is a sad story and I am truly sorry to hear that you've been sick. My tummy is a little tender just thinking about it. Tea and crackers, honey ok, maybe some bananas. Ick. Better yet, develop an adult-onset case of shellfish allergy like me, and you'll never be afflicted again by store-bought seafood salad.

Which brand and which store, if you don't mind sharing....and I understand if you don't!

So sorry to hear that you have started out your new year like this. I admit that just hearing about you eating 2007 black eyed peas had my face scrunching up (can you tell that I'm NOT from the South?). ! I purchased and made King Crab legs on New Years for a special treat I hadn't had in a LOOOONG time......they weren't processed, or tainted, and yet they still had a somewhat "unsettling" result. But oh how good they were going down...........!!!

P.S. I tried the honey in coffee thing......I think I'd rather give up coffee first!

And God bless yer heart, and yer tummy. Yikes. I've got to say that years ago I had a tunafish sandwich at Subway once - yep that was in college and ever since then I've never eaten tunafish anywhere but in our home (or a few really dear friends that I trust).

I'm glad that the aliens have returned your stomach and hope you'll be back up to snuff soon.
Love,
~Nancy

I have wanted to try a new diet, but don\'t think I will try the buy prepared seafood diet. I think I will just try and stop my see food eat it diet, for 2007. Work out a bit more, maybe...

Hope you\'re feeling better.
