13 Things that Surprised Me about Moving to the Country:

1.         Just how quiet it really is without traffic.

2.         How clear the sky is at night and the bazillion stars that look like you can reach up and touch.

3.         Just how muddy a dirt road really can get after days of rain.

4.         How long it takes to get your power back on after an ice storm.

5.         The joy of having chickens.

6.         The joy of having kittens with chickens (especially when finding kittens asleep in the nesting box).

7.         Meeting armadillos on morning walks.

8.         Snakes in the chicken house.

9.         Being outside at 2 a.m. with a gun hoping to shoot a coyote.

10.       The joy of standing in the middle of a sunflower field (yep, that one at the top of my blog! I was slap right in the middle of it!).

11.       Finding arrowheads with my sons.

12.       That time – the minutes in the day - is not as important as it used to be.

13.       The true joy of simplicity.
