Finally!! It is Spring in eastern rural Georgia - and not a minute too late as our tomato plants were really falling prey to our record lows over the last couple of weeks. The garden already needs major weeding, but the corn is up about 3+ inches, the potato plants are extremely healthy and as a bonus, we have a couple of tomato plants that have germinated from the rich compost in our potato patch - so, we'll take the bonus.
Among other signs of Spring are our precious kittens - Oscar (our official Lighthouse kitten), Possum, Simon, Tybee and Skidaway (the latter 3 named for Coastal Georgia islands). Our farm's "kitty culture" is at a total of 8 now and they are at peek entertainment age! Our momma hen, Mrs. White (a Giant white) has proudly hatched 8 precious baby chicks as well.
Meanwhile, we are preparing for our Summer unit study on Lighthouses - it is really going to be fun and it looks like we'll be learning a good bit - mixed in!
