Acne & Blackhead Relief
Digging through my herbal recipes I came across a simple recipe for an acne cream, my son has had some trouble with acne over the last year and we needed something topical, the first time he used it we noticed a difference the next morning. He's used it about four times and each time his face looks much clearer.
Herbal Acne Cream
1/2 tsp Oregon Grape Root Powder OR Goldenseal Powder
1/2 tsp bentonite clay
6 or more drops tea tree essential oil
6 or more drops grapefruit seed extract
Mix all in a small bowl to form a paste. If it's too runny add a little more clay, if it's too thick add more liquid. Apply to blemishes at night or at a time that you don't have to leave home for a couple of hours. Rinse with warm water. The mixture is a dark green color and works wonderfully, give it a try.

Scuba Diving Class
Not so far back I mentioned training for a scuba class. Swimming everyday - really, it's been tough, having to go lakeside and spend time in the water getting tan swimming for hours, hanging out with friends with no time for play, just swimming.
Imagine being able to breath underwater, hearing nothing but the bubbles trickle by and everything moves in slow motion. Relaxed? Thats been the state of my husband everyday this week in dive class.
"I'm not pinching my nose!" Hubby learning how to control their breathing.
The Breathing Circle No nose pinching going on here.

We got to the bottom, now, how do we get back up? I think it's this way, follow my bubbles."

Ooooohhhhh Bubbles

Hey, I'm not a diving expert, but don't you think it would be easier with a mask? Hey, you, on the left, don't you hold your nose!

Underwater meeting

Do I even need to say anything??????? Moving On.

The Zen Master Himself, he makes buoyancy look easy.
(I had to look up how to spell that word, admit it, you would have to do it to.)

Underwater Yoga, he's 6'5 be impressed he can sit Indian Style! Buoyancy is so cool !!!!!

What a Great Song
I don't usually listen to pop, actually, we rarely listen to the radio, except for the other day, we were flipping around and heard this song and I just loved it! It is by Casting Crowns, Here are the Lyrics.
Slow Fade
Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade
Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day
Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

School Has Begun
Last week was our first full week of school we all settled in very quickly. I realized that I've got to plan out meals again to help everything flow smoothly. We've also added a family workout time, my dh started it this summer with swimming, we swim about 400 yards and while it was a struggle at first it is much easier now. I wonder what were going to do in the Winter months?
Writing is going great! The kids have actually asked to write and are ripping out small papers and reports left and right. We are using IEW and couldn't be happier!
Did you ever CLEP a class? I've been researching how to earn college credits as we finish our high school credits which would allow us to go right into the course of study missing the 'core' classes altogether. If you want a bit more information you can click here.
Back to the books!

Carcinogens found in Potato Chips and French Fries
Four food manufacturers agreed to reduce levels of a cancer-causing chemical in their potato chips and french fries under a settlement announced Friday by the state attorney general's office. Read rest of Associated Press Article Here.
Research in four countries is suggesting that French fries and potato chips may be a leading cause of cancer in the Western world. Scientists at the meeting of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization are very concerned about the very high levels of acrylamide in the food supply. Acrylamide is a chemical used in the manufacture of plastics. It was first discovered to be present in certain foods cooked at high temperatures as the result of work announced in Sweden in April 2002. Read about Acrylamide here
