Providence Acres

• Thursday, July 10, 2008 - Welcome Heather!

My daughter just joined HomesteadBlogger. She is willinghands. I miss her as she is now living in PA.  My other daughter is in FL. Having your girls 14 hours away is hard. Hopefully we will be closer some day. Until then, I'll have to become a more faithful blogger.

• Sunday, April 22, 2007 - Home Sick or Homesick?

I am writing here on a Sunday morning instead of taking notes in church as my youngest daughter is not feeling good. I took the others to church and then came back to be with her. She needed her Marmee. But now she is just resting on the couch next to me so I took this opportunity to post. We returned from FL last Monday and I sure do miss everyone down there. I especially miss my sweet Tiffany (my oldest daughter) and her "precious" baby growing safe inside her. I call the baby Precious so she is now looking for names they like that mean precious. I am trying to adjust to this country life but I'm such a people person that it is not easy. 32 years of friendships and memories tug at my heart every day. I do love this house and 5 acres. God is very good to us. But I have never been a farm girl before. We are going to start our garden this week. That too is overwhelming. It is approx. 1000 sq ft and already established. I've never had more than 100 sq ft! We planted potatoes before we went to FL and now are trying to decide what to plant and how much. We want enough to put up in the fall but not so much that we can't get it all done before it goes bad. I told the girls just because the ground is tilled doesn't mean we have to fill every sq inch! We also might want to stagger some things so we're not harvesting all at once. Any input would be welcomed. We are in NW KY. Must go now and get Becca some soup and take a wonderful roast out of the oven. It has been cooking all morning and it smells sooo good! May God bless you all this Lord's Day.

• Monday, April 9, 2007 - Back In Florida

We are back in Florida for a week to visit Tiffany and Bill. We had a good day yesterday with my husband, Bill.  We all went to church in the morning, went to Sonny's BBQ for lunch, then went back to church last night.  He then came back to T and B's to visit awhile longer.  It was a very enjoyable day!  I just wish Bill and Tiffany could have been with us.  They went to Bill's family's house for Easter dinner. But, I get to be with her all this week!!!  It feels good to be here with all our friends and church family. I have a week to visit, eat wonderful food at places we don't have in KY, and soak up all kinds of hugs to hold me over until our next visit. We got out of KY just before some very cold weather set in. It has been snowing on and off for days- no accumulation. I'm so glad I didn't plant anything but potatoes in our garden yet.  With all the warm weather some people had started planting all kinds of things. I am worried about our fruit trees. Hopefully the fruit will make it.  We were looking forward to apples, peaches, pears, and plums to can and freeze in the fall. God knows what he's doing and the trees are well established so we will see.

We finally have internet access now so I hope to have time to update more regularly. I really want to keep up with Debi, my friend, and meet new friends. My children have xanga sites and while I have one also, I like being on here with my grown up friends. I am looking forward to being more active on this site.  Until later, may God bless you with a wonderful day!
