Lots of new things happening here...

My two husbands (j/k) and I took a trip to the other side of Louisville to pick up a tiny little camper (haha)...It is going to double as a guest house this month as company starts pouring in this coming Monday.  It was one of my uncle's unfinished projects so I got a good deal.  I am going to go finish the tile in the living area as soon as I am done here.....It is soooo nice and big...plenty of room for my family of 6.  Everything works great and it has 2 slideouts at the back so it really spreads out...I will post interior pictures later on.

Another addition to the farm is a 4 1/2 month old mountain cur pup we have named Shug....she is beautiful.  She hates my J.R. but I think they will tolerate each other.  Shw is warming up to Bigdaddy in this picture... 

We bought me a newer car...It is a really bright red durango....it has the third seat so we all fit very comfortably.  We figured with the dually in our lives we had no need for the suburaban....so out with the old in with the new.  My sweet suburban found a nice home with plenty of kids to haul...heehee.  It is a big change going from big white to sporty red but I can handle it... 

The husband even dyed my hair to match my new SUV....See...I am a red head now, kinda, with the attitude to match!  I still have my blonde moments too....Goes great with the carhartt bibs I am sure....lol

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW....Sunny day...getting ready for rain this week though....hurray!

I AM THINKING....of all we have to do to prepare for visitors...I can't wait...the kids are so excited to see mimi and papa from Tx.

I AM THANKFUL FOR...a nice big 5th wheel camper we just got...turning it into a spare room for company

FROM THE KITCHEN...Nothing but clean today...soooo busy outside!

I AM CREATING...something crochet .....I am not sure what it will be yet...just teaching myself to do it now.

I AM GOING...outside in a minute to finish up chores

I AM WEARING...pink tshirt and shorts...yes it is October.

I AM READING...How to Crochet.....lol

I AM HOPING...to start a new, useful hobby

Happy birthday to my middle sister....a day early...

There are three of us sisters...the oldest...free spirited, loving, the tomboy, and always into something.. the middle...shy (to a point), always helping others but determined to deal with her problems on her own, she can tell her family they are wrong but you had better not!...we like to call her mom's favorite but it is only because she is the first one there to see what mom needs...mom has no favorite, except me...the baby...hahaha.  My older sisters are 10 and 8 years older than me...they are very close...and I love that.  Mom would always dress them alike when there were little...heeheheee  They loved torturing me almost as much as I did them...And not alot has changed.  I love both of my sisters.....we are complete opposite, we have totally different lives, we don't even dress anything alike anymore..heehee..But you can not find better freinds (and enemies when they know you are doing wrong...because we do not let each other screw up any more that necessary...heehee)...I dont think many sisters are as close as we are...sure we are way too into each others business at times, we push our opinions on each other, we get each other all ryled up...but when it is all said and done we got each other's backs.  Sister's bonds are strong...they have to be....  :P

Ok ok...this was the only picture I could dig up of us together...we have changed alot in the 13 years since this was taken...hairstyles, weight, wrinkles..oh yes...and for me...baby after baby......but we are all still cuties...heehee  JUST ASK MY MOM!!!!

Family photos...family stories...

Today I spent most of the day at my Aunt's house going through old photos...It was so great sitting reliving the past...and learning so much about my family's history.  We are all so much the same and so different too....Even the people I never met...we looked the same, acted the same, even had the same beliefs.  Not alot has changed in 100 years...We are all bull headed, fun loving, hard working, family oreinted group...We are not nearly as close as we used to be but not far from each other in one way or another.  I love my family...the whole insane lot of them....and I think they love the insane me too!!!

This is where we began searching through...I heard the life story of many generations as we went from book to box.  The best history lesson to teach a child is their own....I learned things today about grandparents, great grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins....they all led back to me and my aunt there in that room.  As I would scan those precious memories into my laptop...I listened to my aunt (whom practically raised my daddy herself) She had a story for each one.  Even the family friends...which are just as good as family to us!  We are the type that once you are our friend you are family!  I guess what I am trying to say is take a day (or week in my case) to sit down and listen to the older generation.  You will learn so much...it will bless you and them!!!!

A request for my daddy's birthday...

Tommorrow would have been my dad's 66th birthday. As most of you already know he passed away last summer from a brain anurysm. The man never really had a sick day all his life....or at least he never really complained or slowed down. The sunday that the anurysm blew I had kissed him goodbye, joked around a minute and I left the church early....45 minutes later I got the call that he was being rushed to the hospital...10 days later we let him go. I am telling you all this to make you realize how quickly life can change. We are not promised any certain amount of days....For his birthday I would like all of you that still have your dad to give him a call, a hug, let him know you love him. He may not be perfect...he may drive you insane...he may be insane...but he is your dad and you do love him....you know you do!!!! Dont let this day go by with any regrets of not letting the ones you love know it.

And for those of us who have lost our daddys....honor them by the way you live your life...nothing can bring them back again...I would not take my dad away from heaven even for a second...no matter how badly I miss him...but we can keep there memory and legacy alive by living the way my dad lived...loving the family (especially the crazy ones), helping a friend in need, caring for your fellow man and always being the bigger person by forgiving and loving people in spite of themselves. (oh yes...and always be able to laugh...even when you want to cry!..) I love you all....in spite of yourselves..heehee!!!

A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK...I have a few birthdays this week...one of them being my dad's...so my plans are to survive the week with no meltdowns...from ANYONE!

The farm has gone to the birds....

Rojo..the rooster and edith the hen...aren't they a cute couple!!!  My aunt and uncle decided they no longer liked the 5am alarm going off...so they have a new home with us and our many other creatures.  A couple of weeks ago we were given a pair of geese from my sister's buddy.  They made their way into the electric fence with the goats and sheep and seem quite content to float around in the plastic "pond". 

 Aren't they adorable too!!!  My alpine goat decided that they are the ugliest goats he has ever seen....but he loved the idea of standing IN the waterer...so now he does that too....God help us!!!  haha

Below is just an extra photo I am throwing in to show that IKE was pretty good at being a lumber jack on his way through Ky....this was one of the five trees that was pushed over...Thank the good Lord none of the trees fell on anything...No major damage anywhere on our property!!!  We were some of the lucky few that never lost power too!!!  Now I am just bragging huh? 

Fall is upon us....

Giant sweet taters, bow season, and yard cleaning...woohoo fall is practically here!!!  All that is left is the ritual of taking down the pool!!!!  This is also our favorite time for camping.  We will get more to that next week after we pick up the new-to-us camper this weekend...God willing!  I have a few pictures to share...And will have more tommorrow as we get done cleaning up from Ike...Yes even in Kentucky we are cleaning up!!!  5 of our 100 trees fell...not too bad I suppose...None of the damaged anything...THANK YOU AGAIN LORD!!!!  LOTS AND LOTS of branches down too....nice pile of ash in my burn pit now!!!  Anyhow...let us get down to the pictures...

This was the first year we have ever tried growing our own sweet taters....this one was the first one out of the soil...imagine our suprise!!!

The next picture is of M and W goofing off during our clean up day....They all seem to pose so well don't they?

The last two picture my M took (she is my personal photographer ya know) They are of me practicing for bow season...MAYBE I will have a chance to go...I was soooo bad when I picked it up for the first time this year...then Bigdaddy had the genius idea of me putting on my new glasses...Amazing!!!  Kill shots from then on out.....lol

Oh what a slacker I have been (to my blog at least)

This has been a busy time so I have been letting my blog slide down a slippery slope...Time to pick it back up and do it right once more.  Lets see...I have had alot of company...I canned a few things...grape jelly that taste wonderful and looks nothing like it taste..heehee...an old family recipe relish that had minimul directions....it looks beautiful...let us hope it taste the same.  One of my chicks hatched out but shortly died...it was a bit premature by about a week according to my dates...noone else is moving around much.  Our critter count made a jump in numbers since I started slacking...We now have 2 big white geese and a new kitten that likes to attack toes.  I will try to get some picture up later today. 

After the "tropical depression" Ike made its way past us yesterday we had wind gust up to 60 miles per hour.  Needless to say my yard is a disaster.  Again...I will be taking pictures.  The kids and I are planning on getting outside and cleaning up what we can today.  Now...I am going to go ahead with my Simple Woman's day journal right now...

I AM THANKFUL FOR...having this farm to take care of even when there is lots to be done.

FROM THE KITCHEN...the smell of bannana nut muffin from the oven...nearly done!  (don't get excited...it is a mix)

I AM CREATING...a menu I can stick with...gonna shoot for 4 days first....then work my way up to a full week....BABY STEPS!!!

I AM GOING...outside shortly to clean up!

I AM WEARING...pjs still...I was so excited to find some that fit again..I should have cleaned out my "fat clothes" long ago!

I AM READING..."How to cut your bills in half"  It is a cool book with lots of ideas and recipes for lots of things...even fertilizers!

I AM HOPING...to get most of the yard work done today.

I AM HEARING...J.R barking at the squirrel...we have lots of them with all these hardwoods everywhere.

AROUND THE HOUSE...kids are busy getting themselves ready for an active day of school and yard work.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...Betty Crocker muffin mixes....just add water and poof.....quick, easy, better than a scented candle and the kids love them!!

A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK...get caught up with blog (slacker)..get a set of chickens...hatch out a few of my own...get the farm put back together after that storm...and all my usual things!
