All In A Day's Work

Today has been one of those days that will either make you cry hysterically or laugh hysterically (the key word being hysterical).
My day began this morning at 6 a.m. with Emily (who typically sleeps through the night) crying. I went to the girls' room and found Emily's diaper completely soaked... as well as her jammies and sheets. I can count on one hand the times that her AIO diapers have leaked at night, but last night was one of those nights.
As I was making this discovery, Amy woke up, climbed out of her bed, and wailed, "I'm wet, Mommy!" Not you, too! Yep, our "potty trained" toddler had soaked her panties (and jammies and sheets), as well. Now I was beginning to wonder if they both hadn't gotten out-of-bed and drank a gallon of tea each while I was sleeping or something. Aside from Amy's sheets, all their bedding and pajamas had just been washed the previous day... oh, well... they'd wash again.
I sent Amy to our bed (which, thankfully, was dry), changed Emily and got her back to sleep.
After a morning "nap", I got up, dressed myself and the girls, got breakfast on the table, and opened the dishwasher to begin putting away the clean dishes. Much to my surprise, the entire inside of the machine and some of the dishes were covered with green... something. Something kind of hard and waxy... I ran it through another cycle, hoping whatever "it" was would just wash away. Nothing doing. I finally figured out the culprit... a green Crayola that Emily had evidentally placed in the silverware rack the day before (she just loves to help load the dishwasher). It had melted, of course, and was now graffitied all over the inside of my dishwasher. Great. I put away the clean dishes that weren't wearing a film of wax, placed the "waxy" ones in the sink with the other dirty dishes, and ate my breakfast.
After breakfast, Amy and I did schoolwork while Emily colored (I wonder if she missed her green Crayola?), I listed a few items on ebay while the girls watched a "Miss Patty Cake" video, then it was lunch time. We all managed to enjoy our meal without any major calamities, and I sent Amy to go potty while I cleaned up the kitchen (again)... after that, we planned to take lunch to Daddy, who was working at one of his rent houses. I was just wiping the last of the cracker crumbs off Emily's face when Amy called from the bathroom, "Mommy, did Emily poo poo behind the potty chair?"
"No, I don't think so..."
"Well, I sure didn't!"
A sigh escaped. I'll not venture any further into my day, except to say that my girls are now peacefully napping, the kitchen still is not completely clean, and all the sheets are drying on the line.
It's all in a day's work, I guess.
