Large Families Ruining Our Planet??
Posted on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 2:18 in Babies and Children - Post Comment
In order to stop global warming, people should recycle, drive smaller cars and limit procreation – at least according to a paper published today [May 7] by Britain’s Optimum Population Trust (OPT).
“The most effective personal climate-change strategy is limiting the number of children one has,” the report states. “The most effective national and global climate-change strategy is limiting the size of the population.”
John Guillebaud, co-chairman of OPT, claimed if a couple has two children instead of three, it cuts the family's carbon dioxide output by the equivalent of 620 return flights from London to New York each year.
What a bunch of propoganda!! Check out the rest of the article here. It is a Christian-based refute of this so-called report by the OPT, published by Focus on the Family. A very good read.
I am amazed at the extremes the left-wing liberals will go to in order to attack the heart of God's creation- the family. The Creator of the world commanded the first humans to "be fruitful and multiply". I hardly think that having "too many children" can be blamed for all the trouble we have in keeping our world healthy and our atmosphere pure. Isn't it just like the devil to attack the institution of the home from every angle he can think of?

This article holds no importance to me within the first 6 words of the piece.
Global Warming is a lie. To believe in it what the kooks out there are trying to feed us, is to elevate man into God Almighty's seat. It is idolatrous, at the least, and blasphemous at worst. It is another attempt for satan to use men in power to scare us into listening to them, instead of God.
But, those who are Saved, will not fall for this trick! We have the Spirit to guide us in ALL Truths!

Never refuse a child or take delight in the leave of one.

How sad it is that a person would refuse a gift of God(a child).
Children are the greatest, I adore them all and would never refuse one or take delight in the leave of one.
Have you noticed how many families never stay home? Always on the go to a sporting event or planed avctivity. Always eating out consuming gas, waste of paper products thru the fast food industry.Taking flights here and there always go, go, going. Wasting, wasting, wasting,wasting.........
Children are most important and I am thankful that my mother chose children over selfish pleasures.

You hit the nail on the head... it's all about selfishness. Why don't they ever mention the wast in using disposable diapers, or the polution caused by cigarettes, etc? In light of all the wast in our society, it seems crazy to even mention "large families" harming the "ozone layer". Thanks for your comment, by the way!! ~Kristy

Lotsa rubbish out there in the guise of concern over global warming, yadda yadda. We are warming...sure...and do we need to look at how wasteful we are..you bet...but "global warming" is just the new "buzzzzzz" for the upcoming political drama about to unfold! OH and don't get me started about those that think we need to limit how many children we should have...oh bite my tongue!

I read a Newsweek article recently on a large family. The article itself was pretty unbiased but the comments on it were mostly horrible.
I was wondering if the same people who think large families are such a toll on the environment, bother to recycle, live more organically etc as much as possible (and I think they outnumber us right now, but not for long right?) ;) . Where I know a lot of large families do!
Good grief

This has been an ongoing issue from globalist quarters for decades now. I'm still trying to figure out how it's the kids' fault.
My MIL were talking about the irony of David Suzuki telling a Grade 1 classroom not to play outside so much, so their clothes would stay cleaner and they wouldn't create so much water pollution, versus companies like Koch Industries which dump oil into rivers and steal lumber from federal land. Yep, it's all the kids' fault.
I will wager you three of your Texas mosquitoes against one of my Manitoba ones. We call them "the provincial bird." ;~)
