Mosquitoes Don't Like Stinky Garlic

Everything's big in Texas- including the MOSQUITOES!!  Unfortnutely, our 3-year old is a mosquito-magnet.  If one is lurking within a hundred miles, it will find her.  The past couple of years I've tried everything under the sun to keep the mosquitoes away but nothing worked- I dreaded letting her play outdoors during the spring and summer because she got bit SO many times!  Then, last summer, a friend suggested that I try rubbing garlic oil on the soles of her feet.  I tried it... and have been using it ever since!!  It's the ONLY thing that actually works in keeping my daughter's skin mosquito-bite free.  It's most effective when rubbed into the soles of the feet since it's absorbed quickly into the blood stream that way.  Evidentally mosquitoes don't like the tast of stinky garlic!!

Garlic oil can be purchased very inexpensively at most health stores... the brand I use costs just a little over $4 for a bottle that lasts us a good while.  Its uses are numerous... evidentally mosquitoes aren't the only pesks that dislike garlic, as it's also good for getting rid of ticks and fleas on the family pet.  I also treat earaches or infections with warm garlic oil dropped into the ear.  Okay... I think I'll have to post some more about garlic next week... until then, check out The Bulk Herb Store to find out lots more on this smelly veggie!

I just swallowed a big ole clove of garlic last night to help get rid of my cold. I love garlic, it is good for so many aliments. Have a great day!

I have heard that if you eat bananas the mosquitos like you more because of the potassium in the bananas (which your body absorbs). My kids and I take Vitamin B 1 during the non-winter seasons when the mosquitos are out and about, they don't leave us alone entirely, but for the most part they will have nothing to do with us (the Vitamin B 1 makes your body give off an odor that mosquitos can detect and can't stand ... people can't smell it though).
