Musings of My Mother

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I've been thinking about my mom a lot lately. It's amazing how many times in my day that I remember something that she taught me... whether I'm cleaning my house, cooking a meal, or giving a piano lesson, I see so many things that make up who I am as an extension of the love and instruction my mother put into my life. I can't imagine trying to be a wife and mommy without the training that my mom instilled into my life! So THANK YOU, Mom... for homeschooling Julie, Darren and me when it was probably more convenient to send us off to some school... for cooking healthy meals for us when you probably would rather have slapped a sandwich together... for listening to us talk about our problems or our friends or our dreams when you were worn out and could have used a nap... thanks for letting us "help" in the kitchen and household duties when we made more messes than meals... for taking the time to teach us to play the piano... and for MAKING us practice (even when it probably sounded about as melodious as a meat grinder!)... thanks for all the hours you spent listening, laughing, crying, cooking, cleaning, sewing, doctoring, helping, training, scolding, and praising... just because you loved us. I couldn't be more grateful for and proud of the mother that you were and are... I am daily blessed... because you are my Mother!! Your grateful daughter, Kristy
