I am following your progress on this venture, as I also look toward my own venture. I have to say I was devastated by that news - for all the possible reasons!
My hives are frozen under a tarp at this time, and still need work on them... and like the bird flu epidemic, this latest SCARE, has me second-guessing the wisdom in starting this venture.
It would be easier to protect chickens from infected wild birds than to protect bees in this case. Please tell me, what are your thoughts and feelings about it??
I even took my hive pics off my oicture blog, while I'm reconsidering all this - I am so disheartened.
