lightning bolts and missions

I had one of those lightenting bolt moments yesterday. Abosultely NOTHING to do w/ANY of the stress in my life. As you know, I have felt that Mat will probably be called as a missionary in some way. This thought has been returning to me. I realized a while back that this would feed his want to travel and see exotic species.;)

Also, I have 'issues' w/our chruch. Some big some litte. I'm not going to get into them now. But the pastor started his sermon about our mission program. I knew that we are more mission minded than most churches. But I guess that I did not realize HOW MUCH MORE. Our VBS program #s rank w/Indy and Ft. Wayne! This is a town of MAYBE 3000 ppl!!!!!!! The missions (local, national and international) that our church supports is that of what most churches w/3 times our congregant #s! I realize this is a lot of numbers, but I relate well to numbers.;)

So then it hits me that maybe THIS IS WHY WE ARE THERE!!!!! It hit me when the pastor asked everyone who had gone on a mission trip to raise their hand and this tiny hand of my 5yo sitting in front of me put his up. Not many 5yo can say that they have been on a mission, gotten something out of it, want to go back and even SUGGEST going back!

I'm still praying that my discernment is not being clouded by ME in regards to Mat.

But I truly did not realize how really blessed I was about my passion for missions and being in that church.

Thank you Evan for showing me this. You will be missed greatly. But I know that you are going where God wants you and that you will continue His work wherever you are.

baseball is OVER nad my pastor is gone!:(

The nurse for ins left. I was getting nervous cuz she was grilling about me about PCOS (a syndrome) and my meds........turns out that she wanted to know for her dd.  :lol:  I'm really hoping it doesn't flag anything for us tho. Last time they did not ask NEAR what they did this time! Laundry is being hung out (even tho it's not ever 60 here yet!) and that will dry. My mom is bringing my youngest back from spending the night at my brother's (well his MIL since he lives in MO now!LOL). I refused to drive back and pick him up when my brother was totally unbending about hte whole mess (it's over an hour to get there).

Mat's tourney was awesome (they came in 2nd of 17) and they did use the Propels that I got (15 twenty oz bottles for $5) so they wasn't wasted money. It was awesome because there is a boy that NO ONE can hit off of, guess who got a hit?!?!?!? Yup! MAT! He was one of 2! I was pretty impressed.  He was thrown out, but the next pitcher walked him and he scored the only run of hte game.;) Of course, I missed all of his hits yesterday.:( I was all over everywhere tho. Joey and I went back home for 2 parties and I did stop and buy that bathing suit (it looks OK in my trouble spots, but it might be a little lower cut int he front than I care for) and I saw the last few innings of the championship game. BASEBALL IS OVER!!!!!!!!!! Life is almost good! Dha dn I are now arguing about going to Six Flags while we are in IL.;)

Church was just exhausting. WE did get to go to the 2nd service (we never have) and Joey reallly liked it! I think Mat might as well. But the regular service went over w/the pastor's preaching. He said that he's never written out a sermon verbatim and did cuz he hoped that he'd get thru it w/o breaking down too many times!LOL The birthday party was really nice as well. It was a gorgeous day adn we were out in most of it.;)

We won..............

The boys were NOT in the game, but managed to pull through. So we play tomorrow at noon, then 2. If we win, we play at 4, if we win we play at 6. I'm not sure now, but I think the Championship game woudl be 8. I don't care. I am just glad to see it OVER! And they are so desperate that on Thursday night, neither team refused to forfeit so they started the game at MIDNIGHT and it got done at 1:45. Yes, IN THE MORNING!!!!!!!!! I can only imagine how that went.

But they played and we chatted and I told DH that if he didnt' keep his mouth shut taht I was sending him to the van. I can tell that he's done w/ball season cuz he's getting mouthy!ROTFL!

Then home and made brats, both boys bathed, we got Mat's snack Propels in the frig and DH figured out how to haul them. We'd be the 3rd game in so I"m hoping that they stay cold. I got Joey packed to swim. I was getting ready to pack after church clothes and jsut decided that w/as much as we have going on, we are going to church in jean shorts nad Tshirts. DH even said that there won't be much of a service w/teh pastor leaving. This way if I leave the bday party adn head straight to ball, I"m not dealing w/a van full of stuff, yk? I've already got bday gifts, pasta salad, drinks for JOey adn I for tomorrow and swim gear.

So now I"m going to put the clothes int eh dryer so taht Mat's uniform is dry..........

Tball is OVER!

The fun never ends here........LOL I was up at 6, but didn't get up until 7:30. So I worked out and showered and by the time I got out of hte shower, I told DH that he needed to leave in 15 min and Mat was STILL SLEEPING (8:20). Yea, and.............LOL Mat's 10 o'clock game got postponed until noon. Oh! How nice! Then my neighbor calls adn asks if we'll come down adn get snacks for the 10 o'clock Tball game. Uhhhhhh, isnt' your Dh coming to coach? Yea, but he'll forget them!  :shock:  Dh decided to help coach Tball (we really need him to!) so I called her back and asked if we could get snacks and drop off Mat for her to take to the game. Fine. DH drove seperately from me in case something happened and we needed to split up (weather was iffy here). But then I realize that we'll need LUNCH so I get busy making sandwiches and packing up food for hte DAY. That's what caused me to be running so far behind. We got to Joey's diamond w/less than 5 min before the game! It was pretty soggy already (Mat nad Joey were playing in different towns) and then it started RAINING during hte Tball bame! My hair is SO CURLY now!ROTFL! Then my neighbor shows up halfway thru the game to tell me that Mat's game (her son is on the same team) is now postponed until possibly 4-5 today! And honestly after all the rain that we've had, I don't see us playing AT ALL. They were using a shopvac on the fields to get hte water off and they just couldn't keep up w/the rain. Joey's team lost his game so we are DONE w/Tball!!!!!!!!!! We just have 2 solid days of Mat's tourney to get fit in...............

So we came home and DH  stopped at the bulk food store and got some ham salad (he was not happy about his peanut butter sandwich!LOL) and we plowed thru that for lunch. Seriously, the 2 of us ate an entire pound.;) I made the pasta salad for the pastor's going away party tomorrow and we're having brats for supper so I'm pretty much done for the day!LOL

Dh has been quite 'obnoxious' (in that fun way) so I announced that I AM buying that Ralph Lauren bathing suit that I debated on Thursday. I've waited 3 days so it's not an impulse purchase and i still have bday money squirreled away.;)

FYI, a DAD on the Tball team asked me if I got my hair lightened!ROTFL! Yea, just a tad..........LOL

What can you do w/one zucchini?

Ok, 2 loaves of zucchini bread, 24 zucchini muffins (baking) and a plate of fried zucchini (my lunch) later...........LOL

So snacks are taken care of for the weekend!LOL Actually I'm freezing one loaf to take to FIL. The boys will eat the muffins and the other loaf might wind up going back home for something.

Olive Garden & hair day!

Fun day here!  We left at 10:30 for back home. My sister wanted to check a store near Olive Garden adn I LOVE that store.;) They had what she wanted and I got a new pair of sunglasses and a cute new Tshirt. I need another nice, casual Tshirt to run around in still. Then to OG. YUM YUM YUM! I doubt taht I"m hungry again until Saturday!ROTFL!!!!!! Then to my sister's to get our hair done. Mat's is pretty good. I think I"ll like it better after his next cut. Mine is BLAZING WHITE in the front! I got my mom's 'special' apparently!ROTFL!!!!!! Hopefully it tones down some,b utif not, oh well. It was still worth $8 for both of them. Joey played Wii fit the entire time we colored our hair!LOL We got home about 6:30 and DH had started supper. That was nice! So I read the bible and then cleaned up. I see na early night for all of us...........

I hadn't seen the friend that I ate lunch w/in a year it seems (and i really think it might have been! That's just SAD!). But it was great to see her adn her 2 gdds and ggdd! They are so adorable and growing so fast! They did a great job w/both the ggdd and Joey!

Tomorrow we go NOWHERE!!!!!!!!!!! NO WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!! ABOSULETLY NOWHERE!!!!!!ROTFL! I'm looking forward to it in case you couldn't tell!LOL

Mat slept until almost 9:40 so we did NOT leave for town at 9:30 like I had hoped!ROTFL! I did start a load of laundry, worked out, hung up said laundry, put down grub killer and came back in the house. I gave up about 9:15 for Mat to wake up nad took a shower. We got out the door eventually and I opted to go to the beauty college first. I'm VERY glad that I did! We were there nearly 2 hours! Poor Mat sat w/developer on his head for an hour! BARELY NOTICEABLE! It should've been sheet white! But the girl took the cap off FIRST so I was not about to sit while they did all that again. The manager was SUPER nice (she always is) and just gave me back my $15. She apologized profusely and  told me that this had NEVER happened (and it was obvious by the questions she was asking!LOL) They think someone left hte lid off the peroxide and it went bad. So I decide that I'm not driving back into town AGAIN for this and go to Sally's and get a highlight kit. I can easily do what they are and this way, DH (altho he's not been informeda nd he will NOT want to do this!) would do my hair as there is enuf in there for both of us. I decided that we'd do this tomorrow since we have no games. And since it was after 1 by the time we left the BC, we ate out (grrrrrrr). We bowled and got the kit and Mat bought some thing for the top of his aquarium and then to the library and they did their craft and got more books. I also did all of my banking in there. FINALLY WE GOT HOME!LOL I come in from getting the clothes off the line and the coach calls to say that they moved the game to tomorrow night! UGH! So I'm really bummed about my highlights, I am at least grateful that they moved the game UP nad not BACK! I just really, really wish this entire league was more organized...........

So the boys swam while I got the au gratin potatoes ready and the chops. I need to pop them in the oven so we can eat about 6. The finance guy comes at 7.

I'm seriously considering begging DH to come home from owrk early to pull my hair thru my cap. I just want this done tomorrow for some reason. IT's not my hair so much as Mat's, but it all has to be done at once, yk?

The upside is that the kit was $8. It'd be a minimum of $20 for me at the BC, but that would be w/foil and not just a cap. But I'm spending $8 vs. $35 at hte BC (I still think $35 is quite reasonable for both of us).

Rebate!

I RARELY have 'luck' w/rebates. I just don't ever get my money back!LOL Last year, I did this same CIBA rebate for my contacts and NADA. This time the lady gave me a printed copy of their info and told me to try sending that in as well. Ok, fine.....LOL I thought it was either for $30-40. I knew there was a combo that somehow got $70, but I didn't buy that. So you all see where this is going, I JUST GOT A $70 CHECK FROM CIBA!!!!!!!!

And the $10 survey check that I've been waiting on came today as well! So I've made $160 this month! GO ME!!!!!!!!!!! I still have most of the other money. I'll use the $70 to cover a gift card.

On a totally different note, I decided to splurge and have something carbonated and sweet. FIL had left a few pepsis here so I popped one open. NOT! It's one of DH's diet pepsis. BLECH!!!!!!!!!!! He won't drink it flat so I'm sucking it down.

Sunday

Yesterday was pretty busy, but fun. We hung at out my sister's for a bit. Our pastor is leaving and he's had a very stressful week and will have another one this week (medical testing). But we did some Wii fit at my sister's. I was MAD! It said that I was 44!LOL But I didn't understand the balance directions so my balance was really bad!ROTFL! Mom took me to town and I finished up my nephew's bday gifts. I need to get those wrapped. Then Dha dn I stopped by adn got almost 17 cases of pop for me to label. I NEED THE LABELS THO! UGH! I only have today adn Friday and I wanted to get started! Mat's coach called last night and he's got a game tonight. If we win, no more games until Thursday. This is a double elimination tourney w/16 teams and it's supposed to be done by Friday!?!?!? I hope so! Joey's tourney is Sat and the pastor's going away party and my niece and nephew's bday is Sunday. Plus Dh wants to go back to his dad's and cut hay. I will NOT miss the pastor's party so I told him that if it was this weekend, he was going by himself. If he waits until Wed, then the boys and I will go. I want to use the 6 Flags tix then and I bet he won't. So we shall see..........

So other than laundry and Joey's double header tonight and Mat's ball game, we're taking it easy!ROTFL!

messed up plans.....

cheap day

I made chocolate chip cookies cuz we were out of sweets and the boys  wanted something. What does DH bring home? THREE ALMOST FULL CONTAINERS OF COOKIES!!!!!!!! Seriously, I bet there are at least 6 dozen. Some will go to church on Sunday and I have snacks game 6 of the tourney. So I can surely freeze these? 2 dozen would be enuf for 2 cookies each. I could make  peanut butter popcorn and walk away w/cheap snacks. I'm not buying drinks until I know that we definitely have game #6 cuz they'd never get drank here!

OTOH, I have my bowling coupons printed and I filled out the Fazoli things for free meals (thru 'school'). So after Joey's game, I'll let them each get a $1 burger to hold them over, we'll do the beauty college, bowling and then go to Fazolis. And the library to redeem another set of reading hours for prizes and get more books. Not too shabby since all taht I"ll be paying for is the beauty college and gas. I think Mat wants to go to the pet store to buy crickets too.

Luna moth!

We just read A Girl from the Limberlost. And today while trimming hte bushes, I whacked off part of the back of a luna moth! I felt horrible, but the boys thought it was so neat to see! It eventually flew away so I must have not totally damaged it.

Then we went to meet BIL to get him the farmer's market stuff. I'll make a whopping $7 if everything sells!LOL But that's OK. If not, I'll make a rhubarb custard pie or something.

I also offered to mow for DH, but I think I got turned down. I told him that I could mow if he needed ot get other things done.
