Love for goats

*sigh* It's apple time. I loooove apples... crispin especially! MacIntosh are ok too. But Crispin are definitely my favorite. Don't you just love apple crisp? I love my fattening food  I'd really like a nice sweet, rich apple dessert. Anyone know one? This summer I found the perfect cinnamon roll recipe here! Thanks to the food channel!

Ouch, but my tooth hurts. I had to get three cavities filled last Thursday and two filled today. The two I got filled today were really small, and they don't even hurt at all! And the ones I got filled Thursday, they were all small, except for one, which is still bothering me. I got plastic, white fillings, so I don't have a mouth of silver. I think I soft and sensitive teeth, because my dad has soft teeth too and so did my grandmother. My brothers have like, 2 fillings each... and I have seven Oh well, it's only teeth. I can't help it.

I think I'll go get some ice cream, then do some crunches

Yay, my yogurt turned out good. But I don't really like the taste of it. I don't really like the taste of plain yogurt. I tried adding vanilla but... ehg. I put some granola in it too and tried some jelly, but I don't know... it just doesn't appeal to me! There wasn't an inch of water in it either, it has really good texture and stuff. I think it's just the plain yogurt, because I tasted the plain yogurt culture and it was the same.

I sent in for a youth membership of the ADGA! I'm excited! I have to wait for my kit to get here. I can't wait to register my goats and have nubian kids next year! They will be adorable :) I love nubians!

Well, there isn't much else new here... I want a herd name, but that costs money. If you don't have a herd name I think they put the word "The" in front of your goat's name... I don't really understand that. Ah welll..

My does miss their kiddies. I miss their kiddies tooooo! You can tell they are kinda looking around for the kids and feeling a little lonely. Their udders are huge. I'm only milking them once a day so they dry up. I milked at 8:00 this morning and now they are not entirely full yet. Yesterday I milked at 4:00 in the afternoon and by 8 this morning their udders were so full they were hard. I'm just afraid of mastitis, but I guess the pressure of the milk in her udder will stop her from making milk.

I'm in the process of making yogurt (it's sitting in it's hot water bath, it needs to for a few hours) and hopefully it won't turn out watery like last time. I know goat milk yogurt is supposed to be less hard than cows, but there was like, an inch of water on the top. It's because when I poured some water out of the cooler that the jars of yogurt sit it, the water went in the jars.

*sigh* Back to school tomorrow. I dislike fall.

:'( Today I sold my kiddies. Aww I miss them! It's soooo quiet and lonely with out them. Their mothers are taking it well, the first thing Winnie did after the kids left was lay down. Lol. I'm sure she's thinking, "Some peace and quiet!!"

You don't know what you have until it's gone. I knew what I had... and now it's gone. I'll miss my babies :)

Well, I've got to milk them tonight so they don't get mastitis in their udders. I want to milk them at night, so I don't have to wake up at 5:00 in the morning o.O I wonder, does it make a difference whether you milk them at night or in the morning? I want to make some yogurt this weekend. I hope my plain yogurt culture is ok, it's only been open for a week so hopefully it will be fine. It's supposed to be fresh but I don't think it will make a difference. Hopefully. ...
XD

I want this shirt!!!

So I've got a lot to do this weekend.

My parents and I are going to the horse races... I'm only going because I want to take pictures of the horses :) I don't particularly agree with horse racing though...

Oh, and I have to make yogurt again from goat milk :) Actually I might wait to do that, until the kids are sold b/c then I will have to milk the moms so they dry up. That way I will have nice fresh milk :) Yum. I love goat's milk! The stuff you buy from the store is yucky.. but raw goat's milk is much better than cow's milk. That is the general consensus -- or my opinion XD

And there was another thing I had to do this weekend. Maybe not?

*sigh* I'm still dwelling on Steve Irwin's death. I just still cannot believe it!

Hm. I'm sad :( Why?

Why indeed.

I own goats. 6--Right now. Four are kids... my babies :) three doelings and a wether. They are all almost 3 months old. My neighbor is buying them this weekend... So I'm really sad. They're my life! I don't know what I'm going to do without them. Luckily I still have their mamas, who I have had since THEY were 2-3 months old. They're three now.

These kids were their first kids, so this is my first batch. Next year I'm going to get them bred to a Nubian buck (this year we did Oberhasli). I'm doing it for my senior project--milking the does and making the milk into soap and yogurt, and maybe cheese.

aaaand Steve Irwin died :'(
