Father's Day (pictures!)

Posted in Going
So it's a little on the late side but I finally downloaded (uploaded?) the pictures from the past week or so from the camera.  We had a great time on Father's Day.  We slept in a little, had something for breakfast and spent most of the morning out by the pool in my "cabana"  hahaha!  It's actually our "easy-up" shelter with a couple of metal lawn chairs and a tv tray for my jar of iced tea :)  My Love used the leaf blower to clean up the ground under it, so now the kids don't get holly leaves stuck in their feet when they get out of the pool.
Here's Dad and the kids proudly displaying Dad's new book:
Here's the beetle (and it's proud discoverer) AC found out in the yard.  We had quite an interesting time inspecting it and letting it pinch and hold sticks.

Later on we went to the "Pirate Park" for a picnic.  I wish I had gotten a picture of the food but I was too busy dishing it up.  I made fried chicken (not just homemade, home GROWN!) and potato salad, sliced some cheese and scooped out half a watermelon.  Everyone was very pleased and very full by the end of the meal.  It was really fun.  Then the kids played in the playground while the parents sat and read.  Here's Dad dutifully studying his new book so he can teach his boys lots of "dangerous" things :D

Here's Daddy swinging the boys (and protecting little sister's head from the wildly swinging boys)

And quite appropriately, here's the only shot of Mom from the whole day- no, not the cute little girl in the green dress; the foot in the lower right-hand corner!

Plus one bonus shot of my sweet boys playing near (but not IN!) the creek.  If you ever see us in public you'll recognize us by TH's single pant leg tucked into one boot.  If AC Is wearing boots (instead of the Christopher Robin look he was sporting on Sunday) he will also have one leg tucked in, usually the opposite leg, and no, they do not do it on purpose.

Oh, by the way, yes, my children pretty much always wear boots.   If you look closely you might even notice that MJ is wearing a pair of cast off cowboy boots from one of her brothers.  With her "pitty dress" of course.  They do wear church shoes to church, but that's about it.  They always have rubber boots but will wear cowboy ones if they're available.  We recently did the boot hand-down as everyone was outgrowing the Christmas boots from the great-grands, which is why they oldest child no longer has cowboy boots :D

These are great pictures. I love looking at everyones pics. As for the boys in the boots, my youngest, who is now 14, would never take his black boots off. I have pictures of him wearing them at a mardi gras parade in town. My dh was always so emabarrassed, not me I wasn't wearing them LOL.
