• Saturday, June 21, 2008 - Mornings like this are wonderful

It's amazing how time flies. I have been busy with work, home, family and before I know it, I begin to miss the little things that help me get through the day. Today, that was not going to happen. Bright and early, I, my dog Puddles, and my pair of trusty legs (thank You for those, Lord), took a walk around the cornfield across the road. It was not yet hot out, there was a slight breeze blowing and the sun was shining. The smell of the growing corn was heavenly....watching sandpipers run ahead of us while they chirped their very high pitched chirp.....red wing blackbirds flying out of the long basketgrass as they attempt to divert our attention away from their nests, or perhaps we have just startled them while they were resting.....the feel of the sunshine on my arms and back.... the sound of the breeze blowing over the corn and in the trees....the look of joy and contentment in my dog's eyes as she chased things unseen in the grass and came running back to walk beside me. For a while, nothing in the world mattered, just being was enough. Mornings like this are wonderful.
