Date Night With My Hubby - Finished Bird Feeders
It took us two Fridays-date-nights to finish our bird feeders. They sure turned out cute. Trevor's is the one with the red roof and mine is the yellow roofed one.
You may not be able to see well enough, but there is iridescent glitter on the roof of the yellow and blue feeder.
Date Night With My Hubby

Trevor and I like to do something together each Friday night. A few weeks ago, we decided it would be fun to decorate a bird feeder together and hang it out on our back porch. So we went to Michael's and picked out this cute little bird feeder.
Then we had to pick out the paint. Trevor wanted to do one in bright primary colors, but I wanted to do one in pastels. After much yelling , punching, gouging , gnashing of teeth , hair pulling , kicking, screaming , and threat of divorce , we found a solution to our problem. (scroll down)

Date Night With My Hubby

It's Friday again and that means it's date night! This is my very favorite time of the week! I've planned what I hope will be a very fun evening. We're going to pack up our rackets and balls and head to the park for a few rousing games of tennis. Then, after I beat him, we'll head back home for some beef fondue. We'll set it up at our living room coffee table, turn down the lights, and talk and enjoy the food and company.
Killing two birds with one stone
I've never really liked that saying (killing two birds with one stone), but it's appropriate here, I guess. My husband, Trevor, has been given an assignment for extra credit (we're still in college) by his professor to watch the film Lord of the Flies and write a response. We decided that this would make a great free date night for us, so this is what we are going to be doing tonight for our date.
We're planning on watching the film at the University's library. I will bring along my knitting project to work on while we watch.
The film was originally a book by the author William Golding. I know absolutely nothing about the book or film, so I'm including some information that I pulled from Wikipedia.

Lord of the Flies is a novel by Nobel Prize-winning author William Golding. It discusses how culture created by man fails, using as an example a group of British school-boys stuck on a deserted island who try to govern themselves with disastrous results. Its stances on the already controversial subjects of human nature and individual welfare versus the common good earned it position 70 on the American Library Association's list of the 100 most frequently challenged Books of 1990–2000. The novel was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to the present.
Plot
The novel begins when two boys, Ralph and Piggy find themselves next to a plane crash site, they are unaware of their surroundings. The boys soon find a conch shell, Piggy suggests that Ralph blows on the conch to call for any others who might be on the island. The situation on the island soon becomes apparent; there are many British school boys on the island and no adults. Ralph holds an impromptu election and becomes the elected leader, beating out another boy, Jack who was vying for the position. Ralph quickly calls everyone together to work toward two common goals, 1)To have fun and 2) to be rescued.
For a time things on the island are civil, all the boys work toward building shelters, gathering food and water, and generally surviving. The one goal which constantly gets sidelined is keeping a signal fire going. All the fires on the island are lit using Piggy's glasses, The children are not organized enough to keep the fire going. Most distracting to the goal is Jack's wish to hunt the wild pigs on the island.
Something which becomes a problem is the children's belief in a Beast on the island. The children begin to split the society on the island over the belief of the beast. Ralph attempts to disprove the existence of the beast, Jack on the other hand wishes to exploit belief in the beast for his own gain.
Later in the novel Jack forms a tribe separate from Ralph's. Jack gains defectors from Ralph's tribe by promising them meat from hunting, fun, and most importantly protection from the beast. Jack's tribe becomes more brutal and totalitarian than Ralph's tribe. Jack and his tribe eventually become responsible for the murder of one of the boys, Simon. Jack also steals Piggy's glasses in order to make a cooking fire.
By this time Ralph's tribe consists of just himself, Piggy, and two twins named Sam and Eric. They all go to Jack's tribe to try and get back Piggy's glasses so he can see. In the ensuing confrontation Piggy is killed and Sam and Eric both become part of Jack's tribe, leaving Ralph by himself.
In the final sequence of the book Jack forces his tribe on the hunt for Ralph, intending to kill him. In order to do this Jack lights the entire island on fire. The fire is so large that it attracts the attention of a Navy captain who comes to the island and rescues the boys. His appearance on the island brings the children's fighting to an abrupt halt.
When learning of the boys activities the Navy Captain Remarks, "I expected better from British boys".
