Ten on Tuesay!

Posted in Miscellaneous

This week's Ten on Tuesday is
Your Ten Favorite Songs....

(Click on the titles for the lyrics!)

1. When the Sun Goes Down - Kenny Chesney
2. Next to You, Next to Me - Shenandoah
3. Fishin' in the Dark - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
(# 2 & 3 are my all-time favorite country songs... they've held that honor for 10 years!)

4. Take Me to Your Leader - Newsboys
(This is fun song!  Plus I always thought it would be fun to have a sign or something to remind me to "Take 'em to our Leader's Son"!  Now you'll have to read the lyrics if you don't already know the song! )

Praise & Worship....  I could listen to this stuff all day!
5.
Blessed Be Your Name - Matt Redman
6. I Can Only Imagine - Mercy Me
7. King of Glory - Third Day
9. It Is You - Newsboys
10. You Are So Good to Me - Third Day

A fun survey

Posted in Miscellaneous

A couple other people (Martha's Kitchen, Lancelot Acres, and Homestead in the Making) have this on their blogs, and it looked like fun!

Ten things you've done today:
Made lunches, dropped the kids off at daycare, stopped at the bank, went to work, called about our refrigerator warranty replacement, gave my honey directions to a house for sale(!!!), fed the chickens, walked to the library with the kids, called my mom, watched a hot air balloon fly by.

Nine things you have to do tomorrow:
Go to work again, call a real estate agent, get things ready for Saturday (a wedding and a parade... unrelated events!), start the crockpot before I leave for work, relax a bit and recover from the work week, put away the clean laundry that I'm behind on, read my Bible, weed-weed-weed!, hug my honey and my kids!

Eight items always in your pantry
Do eight boxes of macaroni & cheese count?  Okay, seriously....   flour, sugar, olive oil, yeast, honey, salt, baking powder, spaghetti

Seven things you need to feel "at home":
My husband, my son, my daughter, my Bible, a cuddly kitty, a good book, a fire roaring in the fire place (except not this time of year!)

Six things that sum up your childhood:
Family, trips to Montana, playing outside all the time, horses, building houses, visiting my grandparents

Five items of clothing you wear again and again:
Oh, I don't know...  Definitely jeans...  but I'm trying to wear dresses more often, so there's a red dress with little white flowers that I really like.  I always wear it with a white sweater (does that count as two?).  Oh, and I have a really bright green striped shirt that I LOVE!  But whenever I wear it, I get teased.... Random people (at work) burst into song (the Blue's Clues theme song) since it apparently resembles Steve's shirt.  I don't see the resemblance, but others apparently do.  Hmmm..... this is hard.....let's see, one more.... I guess a gray hoodie.

Four places you've lived:
Three of them aren't very adventurous since they're all within about 10 miles of each other.... Everett, WA / Lynnwood, WA / Snohomish, WA.  But I made up for it by living in Costa Rica for a summer!

Three books you've loved reading recently:
Fascinating Womanhood by Helen Andelin, A New Song by Jan Karon, Man in Black by Johnny Cash

Two heart's desires:
To be a full time stay-home/homeschooling mom, To have a closer walk with God

One thing everyone reading this can pray about for you:
Oh, wow...  that this whole buy/sell, move, quit my job, find honey a new job, stay-home idea might actually work out.  Today is only day 1 of us thinking this might seriously happen.  It's so many things that have to go right though, I know it can only happen if God's hand is on the situation.  But even then, that's so, so many changes.... I'm really nervous at the thought (but excited too!)

Ten on Tuesday

Posted in Miscellaneous

Name your ten favorite movies- in no particular order.  Just your favorites.  If you feel like sharing why, please do!

  1. The Princess Bride - Isn't this everyone's favorite movie??? Need I say more?
  2. Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken - Very inspiring...  A great love story and a great story about beating the odds.  Plus, as an added bonus, it has diving horses.  Yes, you read that right, diving horses.
  3. The Man from Snowy River - A western with Australian accents... what could be better?  And the best horse jumping off a cliff scene ever.
  4. Pirates of the Caribbean - I love pirates!  And Johnny Depp is a great actor.
  5. The original Star Wars trilogy - No explanation necessary.
  6. Indiana Jones trilogy (well, actually just the first and third) - Action and adventure. Love it!
  7. The Sound of Music - This is just a great, great movie.
  8. Goonies - Action and adventure, but with kids!   Oh, and it's a story about pirates and treasure too!
  9. It's a Wonderful Life - Somehow I made it thru 25 years of life without ever seeing this movie!!  What was I thinking??  It is now a Christmas tradition.  And a good reminder that even when it doesn't seem like you're doing something great from a worldly view, you never know what kind of impact you're having on others.
  10. Old Disney movies (i.e. Snowball Express, The Shaggy Dog, The Love Bug, The Apple-Dumpling Gang) - Okay, these are just great, fun movies.  If you've never seen Snowball Express, you've got to watch it!

Appetizer
What is your middle name? Would you change any of your names if you could? If so, what would you like to be called?

First and middle is Jennifer Susan... My middle name is after my mom, which I like, but it never really felt like it flowed with my first name.  I really like the name Jennifer, but there are way too many of us out there (which is the reason I go by Jenna or Jen).  I would like something more unique, or at least less common.  At this point in my life, I think that if I could change my name, it would be Lily (which is what Susan means, so I would still feel like I was honoring my mom! )

Soup
If you were a fashion designer, which fabrics, colors, and styles would you probably use the most?

Anything happy and bright.  I've noticed (at least my area) that alot of people wear neutrals.  I love it when people wear something cheery.  Especially on a cloudy day, it makes it feel like the sun peaked out for a moment, if only for a moment.

Salad
What is your least favorite chore, and why?

Either cleaning the kitty box or paying bills... It's so hard to watch all that hard-earned money disappear right before your eyes!

Main Course
What is something that really frightens you, and can you trace it back to an event in your life?

I can't really think of anything that really frightens me.  The best thing that I can come up with just makes me feel uncomfortable and my heart skip a beat!  And that is the feeling of horses wiggling around in the horse trailer while you're towing.  I don't have horses now, so it doesn't come up much anymore, but I do have VW Westy that is very sensitive to wind and drafts from semi-trucks at freeway speeds and it feels the same and reminds me of the "event".  Now that I think about it, it probably does bother me more than I thought it did!  :)

Dessert
Where are you sitting right now? Name 3 things you can see at this moment.

It's evening now and the blinds are shut.  I'm in the living room, so there's not much that's terribly interesting.  Just regular living room stuff!    I can see family pictures, lots of books, and as of this moment, lots and lots of crayons!!!  Oh, and one very lazy kitty.
