I am on my break now.  When break is over, I will set the timer and work in my bedroom again.  It feels so good to be getting these things done.

I am trying to decide if I want to spend a week in each room, doing thorough cleaning or just start with one room a day at first so I can get to more of the house quicker.  I will let you know what I decide.  Okay, I am going to read a few blogs while on my break and then get busy again.  Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings,

Rashel

Routine feels so good!!

Posted in The Making of My Home

I am feeling much better now.  I have finally shaken the lazy/no energy bug and have found my normal self.  I really think I had just gotten really run down, was fighting off a cold and got really out of my routine.  I think it was a combination of the three that really put me in a funk for awhile.  However, God is good and He answered my prayer to get my energy back and get back to normal.  This week we are just starting to get back into a routine, get the house clean a little and then, I think we will start school next week.

I have decided to jump back on the FlyLady bandwagon.  Her system really does help me to stay on track, if I would just follow through and do it.  I have to delete and ignore most of the emails, but her routines and zone cleaning do wonders for me and my home.  So, I am planning to do my weekly home blessing today, work in the zone and get all my laundry done.  It isn't bad, it just needs done before it gets out of hand.  That is my plan for the day.  What is yours?

Blessings,

Rashel

It is a beautiful morning here

Posted in The Making of My Home

We have been having wonderfully cooler temps here and I am LOVING it!!  The temps are low 80's for a high and sometimes into the 60's at night, so much better than 100 for a high!

VBS if over and things are starting to get back to normal around here.  It seems to be taking awhile though.  For a few days, I was fighting off some flu/cold bug and it really zapped me.  I am over it now, praise God, but for some reason, I can't get my energy level back to normal.  I don't know if it is truly a lack of energy or perhaps I have gotten lazy .  I have gone back to more proper food combining and cutting back on pop, which I had been drinking during VBS.  Hopefully, it will boost my energy levels back to normal.  Goodness, I hope so because I really need to get some deep cleaning done.  I have been keeping the house picked up, but not done any deep cleaning for awhile.    My plan is to spend a good week cleaning and then, get started back with schooling.  I am still working on making our daily schedule for this year.  I don't want a really rigid one, but we do need at least a skeleton of a plan so we accomplish all that needs to be done in a day.  Any suggestions?  How do you all get everything done while you school?  Yes, I know, we have been over this question many times and I have even given advice to others on this topic.  However, this year we need to buckle down a little more than we have in the past, so I am redoing our scheduling (again).

I better get going and get some of that cleaning done while dh and the two older boys are gone to football practice.

Have a blessed weekend,

Rashel

Good morning to all and yes, I am still decluttering

Posted in Decluttering 101

Thank you to all that have left me comments saying you are joining in or have already decluttered your homes!  I truly love hearing from all of you.

I didn't get to do much in the house yesterday since dh was off; we put up hay and ran some errands.  I plan to make up for it today though, Lord willing.  I am going to follow Sara and Flylady's plan today and do some crisis cleaning; working in each room 15 minutes at a time until I am done or out of time.  I am going to do every room in the house and include the porch/yard as well because it also needs some attention.  There are some areas that aren't too bad and I will probably only have to spend 15 minutes and then I will be done with that room, but others could take me all day (or all week).  Once a room is done, I will just skip it on the next 15 minute rotation.  I plan to just work as long as I can and get as much done as I can.  I do have to go to a friend's house and check on things while they are on vacation and I am going to stop at Dollar General to see if they have any empty boxes I can have; to put my clutter in .

I am so excited about the responses I have gotten about decluttering and I just love that so many of you are joining me in this challenge.  I know several of you won't be able to join today because it is probably family day for you, but my dh is working today; so, I am pressing on.  Join me if you can and if not, I am sure I will still be decluttering Monday too .

Blessings,

Rashel

Still decluttering - are you?

Posted in Decluttering 101

I am so happy that I had a great response to yesterday's declutter challenge.  I did get several bags of clothes out of my bedroom and a tote of stuff for the garage sale but, I still have a long way to go.  So, I am going to keep decluttering today.  Dh is off which means I may not be able to spend the whole day cleaning and decluttering, but he is out mowing hay right now which gives me a little time.  I have laundry started and just made a jug of sweet tea, so I am ready to go.   I will try to get back on here after awhile to let you know how things are going and to see how all of you are doing.

I must confess, I can't wait until I can give a report like Mrs. Wood and say that my house is "clean and free of distractions".  Doesn't that just sound wonderfully relaxing and peaceful?  Congratulations on a wonderful blessing for your home and family Mrs. Wood.  And great job to all of you joining with me on this declutter mission!! Thank you also for commenting to let me know!

Blessings,

Rashel

Declutter challenge - open to all HSB'ers

Posted in Decluttering 101

Okay all my fellow HSBers, I have a declutter challenge for you.  First, I must admit this is as much a challenge for myself as it is for you (I have way too much clutter in my home).  So, today I am challenging you all to see how much clutter we can get rid of in one day.  All you have to do is declutter and then come back here and leave a comment saying you joined in.  Simple as that!  How much you declutter is up to you and how much time you have.  I will post later as well to let you know how much I got rid of.  You can use a plastic grocery sack, a trash bag, a shoe box, a moving box or whatever you have on hand - just get up and do it.  Let's bless our homes and our families by getting rid of some of that clutter.

On your mark, get set, GO DECLUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk to ya soon,

Rashel

Catching up, decluttering and stuff...

Posted in The Making of My Home

It is so easy for me to get out of my routine and things get all out of whack around this house.  I am trying to get back into the groove of things and get everything caught up, but it is a slow process it seems.  Yesterday I did have to be in town all day, so I didn't get much done around here.  The day before however, I did get the living room picked up, cleaned and rearranged to accomodate a couple tables I got of my grandma's and 3 plants we received from the visitation.  I am still catching up on laundry and alot of other things though.  I plan to get quite a bit more done today, Lord willing.  I am also trying to declutter and get stuff cleaned out to have a garage sale soon.  I just have way too much stuff in this house and need to purge a little, or maybe alot.  I also need to go through our homeschool stuff and get ready for the upcoming school year.  I guess having said all that I need to do, I should get off here and get started.  I am really feeling like I need to get back to some kind of routine during my day, or at least for my mornings but for some reason that is easier said than done right now.

I will be back later and let ya know if I got anything done.

Blessings,

Rashel
