Tradition! Thanksgiving Dinner

9:32 AM, 2007-Nov-15 .. Posted in Menus .. 9 comments .. Link

We have a very traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Turkey and stuffing, gravy and mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (homemade and that jell substance out of a can), yams, a veggie & cheese tray, green bean casserole and at least 3 kinds of pie (always at least one pumpkin pie!) and other assorted desserts. We eat a huge dinner and then play games, take a hike and nap. Then in the evening we reheat whatever leftovers appeal to us again (some of us only eating dessert!).
Like I said- Very Traditional.
This year Thanksgiving will be at my parent’s home.  Traditionally, I am assigned the same menu items every year- the same items for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinner . . . . and I’m not complaining because this is a no brainer when I’ve usually got oodles upon oodles of other things that need doing.
Here’s what I bring: [click on name for recipes]
MIL Spoon Bread
Triple Fudge Brownies
Mr. Steady’s fan-tab-u-lous Dirty Mashed Potatoes

Desire to see what others are cookin' up? There are lots of yummy recipes over at Looking Towards Heaven's Gobble, Gobble Some Good Stuff- join the Mr. Linky by sharing your own holiday recipes.

Yum, yum. Thanks for sharing.
Yep it's all about tradition at our house. If I leave out a favorite or deviate I get complaints!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.

DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
