Spring Cleaning.....The Kitchen Part 1
Posted on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 07:53
I finally got started tackling the kitchen cupboards today. I have cleaned and rearranged and rearranged some more...!!! I have taken some photos to let you see my progress. I love the website I'm An Organizing Junkie. She gives me lots of ideas for storage.
Before

After
I love my "new", organised, baking cupboard
My old baking cupboard now houses dishes and small appliances
This corner cupboard is difficult to use so I have my crockpot in it and some larger pans
My cookbooks live here. They just needed tidied, with unused ones weeded out for the charity shop.
This is the before picture of the utensil drawer...a hard one to make tidy!!!
The utensil drawer looking slightly tidier!!
I've a few more cupboards to do, the cooker to clean and then it's just windows, floor and surfaces that need a good clean.
Happy Spring Cleaning!

Rearranging Furniture
Posted on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 06:44
My house seems to be full of bookcases because....well....because I have sooooooo many books (much to Peter's annoyance!!). Yesterday I decided to move one of them to the middle landing of the stairs. It was heavy work on my own...one step forward and about three back?!! LOL! I really like it here although I know it makes space a little more limited. Peter doesn't like it so I guess its days in its new home are numbered!! Where will I put it next as I don't want to return it to its original position? Time will tell!!

Starting To Declutter
Posted on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 03:14
January is the month I start my "spring cleaning". It must be that I like the feeling of a new start for the house with the new year. Today also inspired me to get started as we had quite a heavy fall of snow last night (the first this winter) and I don't like driving in the snow.....I had to stay in the house!!!
I decided to start small, but with a job that I have been putting off.....the cupboard under the stairs. I have never known such a small area to be so cluttered. It's where we keep our shoes, bags and things like the vacuum cleaner. Somehow EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING that can't find a home seems to land in here!! The reason I hate clearing it out is because I can't stand up in it....yes.....it is THAT low!!!!....and it gets really uncomfortable. Well, I took the bull by the horns and got started in. It is now a tidy, organised and efficient area. I filled one large bag of shoes that are never worn or have been out grown and handbags that are not being used ( I still have a few left?!!!! LOL!!).
So today I feel as if I have got a start with things. Tomorrow or maybe even tonight I'll declutter the study and then I can get it cleaned tomorrow.

P.S. The snow has already gone! Sob! Now it's just raining as usual!!

Home Management Binder
Posted on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 02:15
A couple of weeks ago i mentionned I wanted to revamp my Home Management Binder to make it more workable. The one I had was too large and cumbersome. Hubby got me an A5 Binder and I went to work organising it. I will retain the other one as I can keep it in a handy cupboard to refer to if I need to. The new one contains everything I need from day to day.
Cover:

Section 1:

My aim is to follow the role of the Proverbs 31 woman. On most occasions I fail (!) but I do try. Keeping it at the front of my Binder is a good reminder.
Section 2:

I keep my general daily schedule, my weekly schedule and my blank to-do lists in this section.
Section3:

This section is pretty self explanatory!
Section 4:

As you can see, I have yet to fill these in.
Section 5:
The last section has a little folder in it in which I keep blank shopping lists. This means they are accessible whenever I need them.
I love the graphics I have used. The majority of them are from Sheryl's Graphics. You should have a look at this site. It's wonderful!
