Starting To Declutter

January is the month I start my "spring cleaning". It must be that I like the feeling of a new start for the house with the new year. Today also inspired me to get started as we had quite a heavy fall of snow last night (the first this winter) and I don't like driving in the snow.....I had to stay in the house!!!

I decided to start small, but with a job that I have been putting off.....the cupboard under the stairs. I have never known such a small area to be so cluttered. It's where we keep our shoes, bags and things like the vacuum cleaner. Somehow EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING that can't find a home seems to land in here!! The reason I hate clearing it out is because I can't stand up in it....yes.....it is THAT low!!!!....and it gets really uncomfortable. Well, I took the bull by the horns and got started in. It is now a tidy, organised and efficient area. I filled one large bag of shoes that are never worn or have been out grown and handbags that are not being used ( I still have a few left?!!!! LOL!!).

So today I feel as if I have got a start with things. Tomorrow or maybe even tonight I'll declutter the study and then I can get it cleaned tomorrow.

P.S. The snow has already gone! Sob! Now it's just raining as usual!!

I have made a list and checked it twice on all the rooms, corners, drawers and closets I want to declutter and there are ALOT of them let me tell you. But I had forgotten about our closet under our stairs.....so thanks for reminding me...NOT!! LOL We use ours for the same....coats, vaccum cleaner, etc. and it is a mess. YUCK. I am glad I am not alone. I was clearing something out and talking about Spring Cleaning when I realized it's only January 3rd. We've barely begun WINTER!

Of course, it will take me all Winter to get decluttered anyway, and by Spring I will (hopefully) have a down-to-detail cleaning!

It looks as if many are in the decluttering mood. I too am trying to declutter. I just can't bring my self to throw things away and there is not many needy ones here to give to. My daughter ,Belle, is selling a few things at her store and maybe I will put an add in the paper to give this stuff away.

Good job on the closet! Thanks for your comment on my post. As far as crock pot recipes, I usually just throw in what sounds good. One thing I like to do is add Italian salad dressing, broccoli, and baby carrots to a roast.

Oh my, I really need to get started on my house. It has never been so cluttered up and dusty. This fall was a hard time for me. I lost two people very close to me. I don't deal with death very well. This week another family memeber passed away. So I have spent a lot of time at death beds and out of town. my house has suffered for it.
