My lovely day.
It's quite a lovely day here. Warm, sunshiney, simply lovely. A good day for being outside.
I'm still having problems with the camera. I hope I didn't break
it, but it won't recognise any floppy disks. I'm going to bring
it into a camera shop on Thursday, when I head into Portland.
I played with the chickens for most of the morning. I've only
gotten three eggs in the last three days, so I'm wondering if they have
found a new interesting place to lay them. They still won't lay
in the laying box I built for them. Polly is so good with the
chickens, and they're getting pretty good around her too. I think
they have realized that she won't do them any harm, and a couple of the
other roosters (besides Little Peep,) have started chasing her
too. It makes for some great fun.
Yesterday, my sister and I made some salsas. One pico de gallo,
one roasted garlic and one sweet onion. It was so nice to see
her. She ended up giving me a bunch of food; jams, applesauce,
fruit cocktail, some spices and stuff her family won't eat.
It's all good, I will eat pretty much anything. I brought her
eggs, which she adores. She loves farm fresh eggs, and she
doesn't get them enough. She also gave me a rice steamer and a
pizza stone. She had extras, and I didn't have either. I
might make pizza tonight, although I have never been really good at
making pizza dough. I might as well try, as I would like to get
better at it. I have all my favorite toppings, so it could be really
good.
I forgot about my soup stock on the stove last night before I went to
bed. Whoops! It boiled way down, but it didn't burn, thank
goodness. I added lots of water and it still tastes really
rich. I can be a little absent minded, but I really need to watch
that kind of thing. At least I know the fire alarms work,
although they didn't go off last night. If it had burned, I would
have been up pretty quick. I think I'm just going to strain and
freeze this stock. I like having stock on hand, and it isn't
really soup weather. Much more salad weather.
The job search continues. No luck yet. I'm starting to see
more help wanted signs, although the papers have been bleak. I'm
going to have to run off a few more copies of my resume. I think
I'm down to five. My sister had some words of
encouragement. That was nice.
I think I'm going to go back outside. It's a beautiful day. Simply lovely.
Have a wonderful day!
Raymond

It's a beautiful day here too - but very windy (I'm about 30 minutes from Portland). And I had the same thing happen with a batch of bread dough last night! I was waiting for it to rise, got tired and the next thing I knew it was morning! Hate it when I do stuff like that! Enjoy the beautiful sunshine!

Hi, Raymond, your weather beats what we've got here, the cold finally arrived in New England after a very mild start to winter. Light snow expected tonight, got the wood stove going most all the time... do you have a bread machine, by the way? Could you find a used one? That would make quick and easy pizza dough (maybe you already know this, if so, sorry!). I use my KitchenAid mixer to make a dough more than the bread machine, if you've got something like that - I don't knead it at all, just let the machines do the work, and I only give it a couple hours before using it. I add some wheat flour to the dough to make it "healthy" for everyone! I love to have gorganzola, sun dried tomatoes, pepperoni, spinach, and some good spices on my homemade pizza. Let us know how yours goes. -Chris P.S. I didn't know you were job searching - hope you don't mind me saying so, but I'll say prayer for your job situation (can't hurt!)
