Why it took over two months to get from ownership to moving in.
Had a couple people ask why it took so long for me to move in after
buying the property. I said it was a long story, but I can sum it
up in one word:
Electricity.
Because the family who moved out of here turned off the power, and the
first offer fell through, the power was off for more than a month. When
that happens, the local electrical co-op won't turn it back on without
a county inspection. It would seem that the meth epidemic mixed
with high scrap metal prices leads some tweakers to steal electrical
wire from houses. So, we had the county inspector come out, and
meet my dad who used to be an electrician. I'm not sure of the
conversation, but I did see the list of things that were wrong.
It was impressive. And it wasn't because of stolen wire.
So, dad and I (ok, mostly dad, he is the electrician in the family,)
came out weekends, sometimes weekdays, and fixed the problems.
Thing is, as with every project, there were complications. Like
the box we got, installed, and found it nearly impossible to get
breakers for. Or some of the wiring we found that was extremely
underrated for the circuit it supplied. It seems every time one
problem was fixed, three more popped up. The people who lived
here were not really good at electrical work. Another
example: They had an extension cord with two male ends that they
plugged into one wall, ran through a couple holes in a couple walls,
and plugged into another wall to get power into that room.
Creative? yes. Safe? not even close. I'm still finding
things that make me wonder what they were thinking. They did have
a lot of fire alarms. They also had alot of outlets with burn
marks and some really frayed wire.
In time, I will fix it all. I might end up rewiring the whole
place. It took two months just to get it to the point that it
would pass inspection. Then I moved in.
I guess that really wasn't that long of a story. Oh well.
We'll talk soon,
Peace,
Raymond

Praise the Lord that you had your dad to help you out especially with so much that seemed to be wrong with your home but you got there in the end! I guess at times it must have seemed that work etc was taking forever but hey it is certainly a beautiful home that you have now and little by little you are getting things fixed and so on.
Blessings

Hi, Raymond, just took a few minutes to read all the new posts... and I enjoyed your pictures immensely. I also enjoy hearing about your beautiful days, you have such a postive outlook. I admit I am much more of a curmudgeon than you are - between your positive thinking and Randy's (musketman) antics, I can't help but brighten my sour puss. Thanks! Hope tomorrow is just as beautiful... Chris P.S. I will check your sister's site next, can't wait to see her photos, too.
