In a pitch for U.S. manufacturers and farmers,
Bush told his Chinese counterpart: "I strongly support your vision, Mr.
President, of encouraging your country to become a nation of consumers
and not savers."What the??? How??? I mean... damn! Ok, let's say that the world becomes a world of consumers, not savers... What happens? Uh, maybe, ummm, debt? Isn't our country going to be in a great deal of trouble when the world, who figures out we won't pay off our national debt, decides to act on this? I like to think I'm going to leave a legacy and a better world for my children, and their children. However, my fearless leader suggests we (and the world,) should just BUY MORE!?! I don't want my children and their children to have to pay my debts. I don't mind if I die leaving nothing, as it is preferable to leaving my kids and the future with a debt that I didn't see the need to pay. Grrrr. Think about it. I am. Grrrrr.....
