Life and times of a new farmer/homesteader

Favorite country meal

I saw this at maa's and farmgal's blogs (congrats farmgal on being blog of the week )

The thing is, I don't eat much country food for dinner.  I eat a ton of ethnic foods, strange combinations, and wonderful food that really couldn't be called country.  But...

There is breakfast.

I can't wait until I can say that I made everything for my breakfast, from grain to egg home butchered and smoked sausage to churning the butter from my own cows milk, but as of yet I can't say that.  I can say that I have wonderful eggs.  And I make pretty good bread.

I have stated that I eat about five times a day.  Breakfast is my biggest meal.  Here's what I had today:

2 homeraised eggs, over easy (I love soft yolks.)
6 strips of apple cured bacon
Country fried potatoes, with onions, peppers, garlic, and cheese.
2 thick slices of homemade sourdough toast with butter and lime marmalade (I was lucky, I forgot about that loaf in the freezer.  I need to start a new sourdough starter.)
Milk and Pomegranite juice (not together, different glasses lol.)
Sour cream and salsa on the side for the eggs and potatoes.

I cook the bacon first and fry the potatoes in the grease, saving a tablespoon for the eggs.  Eggs last, of course, they don't do as well if left to warm.

Blessings,

Raymond

I had to laugh

Hi ya, I had to laugh when I saw the part about the milk and the pomengranete (wrong spelling I know :lol) juice and I thought "what" then I saw - "not in the same glass"...............

My goodness that is one big breakfast, it sounds very yummy though I must admit.

How was your week and I hope you had a really good time catching up with your family. What are your plans for the weekend??

Thanks and that sounds pretty good to me. I am a big fan of breakfast. Sometimes I will fix breakfast food for dinner. I love chocolate gravy and homemade biscuits. Good post, I enjoyed it. sheryl
