Growing in Grace-Living Life One Day at a Time

Some thoughts today

Posted on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 04:58

Hello All !

Thought I would blog a bit before heading off on our next camping adventure. We will be leaving in a couple days, but only to stay the weekend and celebrate Merf and Maleas birthdays with some cake ,icecream, family and fun.

I have been in the major homemaking mode here lately and have been going over many ideas in my head for redecorating. As many of you know,we live in a tiny trailer on a hill, but a home is not determined by its size or cost.It is determined by the love that goes into it,and the hands who create the beauty in it are busy hands with lots of heart in them.

Hopefully as I go along and redecorate from room to room I will be able to take some pictures to share of the before and after.I wrote all of my ideas down, and dont expect them to be accomplished overnite, but am hopeful to get a few things done by end of summer.I want to start in my laundry room first and paint it a nice cheery color and add some decoration.I have picked up a few things for it at yardsales and cant wait to get them up.I love old aprons and came to a yard sale one day where a little ole lady had placed several of handmade vintage aprons in her sale for .25 each. Her mother had made them and she really hated to part with them, but it made her feel better when I told her I would put them to good use by using them as decor for my laundry room.I hope to get started on this a couple weeks after we get back from camping.

Lots of things have been blooming in the gardens. Most of all I enjoy the wonderful honeysuckle scent splattered all around my yard.It is so nice just to sit out there and smell the sweet breezes.I am about to hang some mints to dry for teas. They smell wonderful also. The yellow primrose, purple spiderwort and maroon lambs tail are blooming. They are especially beautiful early in the morning when I am out there for quiet time.Soon the lillies and hydrangea bush will be in bloom.Oh the joys of summer.

Well,I have went on and on about some of my thoughts today...........What are some of yours?

Hugs,

Rachel

June Already?

Posted on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 09:03

Hard to believe this year is almost half over already.

Where does the time go? Makes me think about how fast time really goes and how much time I waste. We are only given a short time on this earth ,and I want to make the most of it. I want to live my life for God,and spend every moment I can with my family.I want them to know I love them, and that would never be questioned when I am gone.I want to leave memories for them and make memories with them.I want to teach my sons and daughter to love the Lord with all their heart and not do as I say,but follow the example I give them with my life, the way I live it.I dont want to be a hypocrite in any ones eyes by saying I believe in one thing and doing another.Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments. He said to love Him and love others. How simple and plain is that? I am a far from perfect person, but I make a choice every day to walk the path the Lord has given me.

What does this have to do with wasting time? Well, let me ask you,are you making the most out of the life your creator has given you,or are you wasting time? Do you have friends who are lost and dying and you have never taken the time to share the gospel with them out of fear or embarrasment? Are you living your life to the fullest possible by helping others and being a servant or is it all about you and what you want out of life? What are your priorities in life? What are your goals? What type of legacy do you want to leave for the next generation? Have you ever sat and wondered about these things? Are you wasting time? These are some of the things I sat and thought about this morning during the quiteness of the earliness.I pondered these things then chose to make some changes in my life.I chose to make some goals and to love people more.I chose to be a better helper to others and to give more of my time to helping others.I chose once again to live my life today for the Lord, and be an example of His goodness on this earth by the way I live and love.

Are you wasting time?

What are your choices today?

Just something to think about.

Love ya,

Rachel

Good Morning

What a chilly morning to wake up to.Looking outside the fog is everywhere and it makes me just want to snuggle up on the couch with an afghan this morning.I guess it is supposed to warm up later today though.I am looking forward to that.I hope to get out in the yard after school is done today. We have been studying the planets together.Apologia has some of the best curriculum for science.I love it because it is all creation based with no evolution theory at all.I mean, who really believes we were formed from a big boom,or came from a monkey for heavens sake?I thank God for truth of His word.

I have been in the yardsale spirit here lately. We have been going about every weekend to try and find things our home needs. My sweet little one Kayti found several summer things last Saturday.I was relieved, since I knew she needed them so badly.I hate to spend money for things that I know I am able to get at a yardsale for a good price.Especially when I know my kids are growing fast and wont be in the stuff for long.

I found several needed household and camp items for nearly nothing.I found for our camper a mr.coffee coffee maker for 2 bucks and seven throw rugs for a dollar.I gave my sister in law Missy half of them for her camper, since I had way too many just for mine.

I have also been into the gardening mode.A friend gave me several new plant starts for my memory garden to help fill it in.My oldest son also bought me some sweet william for mothers day and lavendar. Both of these are perennials and will return every year.I love the plants that return, but I also think some annuals are pretty and worth buying and saving the seeds from for next year.I bought a whole flat of marigolds for 6 dollars at a yardsale and planted them in a new garden I made by my memory garden.Marigolds were one of my moms favorite flowers,so I filled my memory garden with a bunch. When my mom was alive I never shared her love for flowers and plants.I dont know, maybe I was too busy with the kids being little,or my career at the time,I dont know.I am glad to say now that she passed a love for beauty down to me and I am grateful to her for that.

Well,I am off to get some work done around here before I get the kids up.I love the quiteness of the morning and the peace God brings in it.

Till later,

Love and hugs,

Rachel
