As of the 4th of this month we will have been offline for a solid year. Now, we are buying this house - with my brother. Plus, this Thursday I was promoted to store manager. Things are finally coming together and it feels great. Next, we will be able to be online too;)

I don't post much. I can't post pictures. Being on a cell phone vs. a computer does have limits. I have to keep saving or the page expires and I loose it all. I am still sewing and such. Countless crocheted dish clothes, a few scarves, and most recently Sewing pajama bottoms from fleece. I still have a love/hate thing going on with my machine...but it is getting better. I was able to purchase a ten yard bolt of black fleece for $25 add the scraps from past projects I can make plenty varried enough to keep them from looking too much alike.
We're alive and well...we're just still not online. This I am posting from my cell phone. I'm just glad to be able to be here at all. I can only post a few lines at a time, or the page expires. The downside of it being a phone I guess. I'm working at a dollar store now. I left the pharmacy after my grandfather passed away in September. My sister works there also. We definately enjoy working together.Just to let you know -We'll be getting the keys to the house today, and we'll be without the internet for a while. How long, I'm not sure. I'm the kind of gal who likes to see how things are going to be handled before adding bills to the pot. Right now, we're moving in on a wing and a prayer. Borrowed towels and blankets - it's going to take some time to get things together. But, I'll be taking lots of pictures and post when I can. Of course, I'm also still working (outside the home) and studying for my tech. certification. I have a class this week as well. Should be interesting. The best part is I have this weekend coming off - and I'm working a lot of 9-5's (instead of 11-7) - so I'll have more time home to get things done there. YAY.I am SO excited, though a little nerveous. I know it's going to take some time to get things really setteled for us, but this is a step in the right direction. But, we're going to be able to have a sewing/craft room now - and for some reason, that makes everything else fade into the back ground. Knowing all I have to do is grab some second hand sheets, and voila - we'll have curtains, pillows, and perhaps a crochet rag rug for the halls and bathroom. ![]() ~*~We're Outta Here~*~

![]() This weekend, we'll be cleaning and a scrubbing every spare moment we have. I have to work a few hours both days of the weekend - but you can beleive I'll find the time to get to the new house too! The locks were changed today, and it's going to be SO wonderful to get things moving forward again. I'm off to go work on crocheting a little something for the kitchen - just dish towels, pot holders and such! I'm just so happy!! ~*~GoodMorning~*~![]() I almost forgot to share the news about the house! I only had time for a real quick post yesterday while dinner was cooking and Dh was in the shower. After that, we were grabbing all the family/us time left available to us. Anyway, here's a hint - ![]() Yeah, the place is a mess. There is stuff packed up there, but no one was there. So, a note was left, and they'll stop by today and see if there's any change - but the mess is going to be there. Hopefully, we'll get to get in and start cleaning up this weekend though. ~Suprise Smiles~

![]() Dh met me at work today - what a suprise! Seems they've got to wait for supplies at the cabin, so they're working locally for the next couple of days. He met me at work a bit early, but my boss let me leave - it was super quiet today - so WOOHOO! The best part is, I had dinner all planned out already - so there was no stress of what to cook. It's one thing I've been holding to. Cooking real dinners even when it's just DD and I. Mainly, because I don't want her getting the idea it's something I do for everyone but her - kwim? Dinner tonight is Country Style Steaks, with rice and peas. I also added mushrooms to the gravy this time. It's Dh's first time to have this meal - the last time I cooked it, he was out of town working. ![]() Tomorrow, Tomorrow!

We'll find out when we can move tomorrow! YAY!!!Until then, we do have a few things planned to pass the time. Tonight, DD is making a lasagne dinner. We have a little shopping to do for the dinner, and lots of preperations to make. In fact, I've got to get to the market while I've got a ride, it's COLD out there! LOL At long last - I've found it ... againWoohoo, I'm going to have SO much fun...as I was browsing around looking for patterns to use in our new home - I found an old favorite - The Potholder LadyShe shares vintage pot holder patterns (amongst other things) and hers has been a favorite for ever. But, lately when I've tried to look it up, the site was not to be found. I once had most of her patterns printed out, even a few of them worked up - I'm so excited to have come across the site again, I just had to share! It's a crochet kind of day here ...

Well, today my Sil and I went to JoAnns fabric store and I picked up some "Fun Fur" yarn they had on sale for a dollar a ball - I've wanted to try something with it for some time, but the price always intimidated me! I also picked up a couple balls of Peaches and Cream crochet cotton to make some dish cloths for our new kitchen. But first, I'm working on a pair of mittens for ME ![]() The pattern I'm using for the mittens is one of the many free patterns that can be found at Bev's Country Cottage. It's a one piece pattern and very easy to work up. The best part is, you can make up several pair from a skein of yarn so there is always a replacement when one gets lost or torn I'm seriously considering making mine on a crocheted chain to string through my coat, so I don't have to worry about leaving one on the bus myself, LOL.Well, that little venture tapped out my gift card from Dh for there - but it's enough to keep me busy for a while ![]() ~Vegetarian Questions~

My daughter who is 14 is interested in trying a vegetarian diet. I want to be supportive - but I don't know how to make sure she's getting the proper nutrition. If anyone has any websites, or recipes to share we could try - I'd really appreciate it.

We have a winter advisory in effect until 4pm this afternoon. Sil and I were already out in it this morning - she had an errand she *had* to run, and didn't seem to want to be out alone ... so naturally, we stopped out at the dollar store in the plaza she had to go to anyway and I found bandannas for Dh - he hasn't been able to replace his since the fire and he's looked every where! Except for the dollar store I was at today, of course Anyway, that and a couple of sketch books for the kids and a deck of Uno Cards wrapped up my spending spree there. The timing was perfect for those bandannas since Dh shaved his head last night. While I'm not questioning him, or the wisdom in it. (And I do love smooth, lol) He does work outside - and winter really has arrived here. Oh well, it just made him all the happier when I came home with those bandannas .Now, we're all home and no body is moving. We're going to do some crafting, play a game of Uno, and just snuggle in for the weekend. It's FREEZING - and only getting colder...

I can tell you right now, I'm not planning on going any where this weekend - not if this keeps up. I'll stay home and crochet and sew. I'll bake, cook, do laundry - what ever it takes to make sure I stay INSIDE, lol.Seriously though - it sounds like a heavenly way to spend a weekend. No rushing, no errands. Just snuggling down in with the family. It's one of my favorite things about the winter season. I hate the cold. But I love to be snuggled in on a cold winters day. I can't stand being out in the snow, but I sure love the way it looks. Of course, we don't really have any snow - just the cold. But, I don't doubt snow will get here. It keeps trying any way. Oh, I have to "watch watch" a show with DD right now. She's 14, so yes I mean "right now" LOL. It's not that she rules here - but she DID wash all the laundry today, so I think it's the least I can do to snuggle on the couch with her and watch a show. Heck, who knows how many more years I have left of her wanting to snuggle and watch a show with ol' mom here ;-) Two down...? to goWell, I did it. Yesterday, I got out of work an hour early because it just quieted down to nothing. There were 4 of us - and NOTHING to be done. So, I got home at 7pm instead of leaving at 7pm. Kind of cool - but we are moving soon, and short checks are not going to help so much. So, I promised myself to complete at least 1 training CD to compensate - and I did both of them Granted, the one was one I've been working on, and was over half complete already. I had actually done it 3 times already; but my computer kept freezing up and shutting the program down causing me to loose all the data Finally, I caught on and started exiting the program after each assessment so it would record and book mark my progress. Of course, that wasn't until it did it to me the SECOND time at the FINAL assessment. Ok, I'm slow sometimes ![]() None the less, I got an extra hour home, and will be paid for 3. Not a bad trade off. Even if the time with DD was spent doing 'homework' together. Since we homeschool, we're always doing that any way ![]() ~Ever Changing~Well, it seems there is yet another change in plans. We are still moving - only now instead of moving into the 1br. apt, we're moving into the house itself. My Mom (our landlord) is concerned about taking the risk of leaving it empty, and the risk of renting to another set of tennants with it being for sale. So, they offered it to us for a reduced rate in the rent. We're also going to see if we can buy it ourselves. I doubt it - esp. with both of us working our current jobs under a year, heck - under 6 months! But, we'll see what we can do.It's hard not to get too excited about it - but I love that house. Even though it's not in the country, there are many things we can still do from there. There's a little front yard in front of the porch. We can have have a container garden on the porch, and still plant some things in the front as well. I'm thinking herb garden ![]() The house has a pantry off the kitchen, and a cold storage in the basement. It's going to be hard having to leave when the time comes. I'm leaving it in the Lords hands though. If it's meant to be, he'll show us the way. If not, we'll wait until He shows us something else. We shall see. ![]() Trying a new recipe tonight ...Tonight, I'm making Country Steaks for the first time. The recipe calls for 2lbs of ground beef, though I am using turkey - I'll have to let you know how that works out for us.We're also going to have Cheesey Garlic Mashed Potatos, and broccoli. For dessert ... I don't know yet. DD and I are baking sugar cookies today though - so maybe we'll stick with those ;-)Ut-Oh - I just went to the web site where I get my sugar cookie recipe to post the link, and found this recipe featured on the main page - Easy Decadent Truffles Oh, that just sounds SO good! Ok - I tried the recipe with the ground turkey. I ended up adding about 1/2 - 3/4 c. seasoned bread crumbs for the texture - I didn't measure. Other than that, I kept to the recipe and it IS a keeper :-) Now I'm off to play a little and search for a new recipe to try :-) ![]() Little BitsI'm working on getting some things ready for our new home. This week, we have Dawn Dish Detergent on sale for $.88 a bottle. I had a $1.00 coupon off - so I bought two bottles for $.76. I have another coupon, so I'll be going back for more ;-) That should have us set with dish soap at least for a bit. They also had Campbells Select soup on sale 2 for $3.00 - I had a couple of $1.00 off coupons so I got 4 cans for $4.00. That's what my pantry "stash" consists of so far, LOL. I've also been playing at netwinner While you can win cash - I haven't. But I am collecting my points to get free gift cards. For now, I'm sticking with the Target Gift cards because they are within walking distance and I can get food items there to help with stocking the pantry back up. Not to mention the other household items we'll be looking to get for our new home. It may seem silly, but it's the only place I've found that you can get money (gift cards) without giving out your banking, credit, or pay pal information. They mail you the gift cards for your redeemed points, or send you a check if you win a cash prize. Plus, I can play while I'm doing other things online, like now - LOL. However, it's time for DD and I to go for our morning walk - So I'm off for now ![]() Death by Overstudy?I used to do home health care for the elderly. One of my favorite clients was one of the first women doctors to practice in the US. She was still very conginitive, and I enjoyed her company very much. She liked that I read to her from a gift for her 100th birthday - a book of Times Union Newspapers from 1900-2000.I remember one article distinctly - it was about a Harvard Student who died suddenly in the middle of a class. It was determined, as he was very studious, and had a perfect GPA; that he died from overstudy. We laughed, she rattled out the more likely causes of his sudden death, based on the description of the sceneario in the paper. We talked about how far medical science had come so far from the years when she began to practice medicine .... However, today - I'm feeling that. I'm studying for work, and I'm sure it's killing me. Hurting anyway. I've got 2 CD's to complete, not to mention a binder full of worksheets and passages to read and work with. Sigh. I'd rather be crocheting, sewing or even dreaming about how to set up our new home. Guess I'd better get back to hitting the books though ![]() Cooking with whole foodsMy father taught me a valuable lesson one day - he asked if I thought I could bake a pumpkin pie. Knowing there was a recipie on every can, I happily replied - "Sure, I can do that!"Then, he handed me a pumpkin ![]() I figured it out, and managed to make two pies. The first was a bit on the wet side - I should have drained the pumpkin more. The second was perfection - well, close enough for me after the first one .Ever since then, I've loved cooking from scratch - and my idea of what that means changed drastically! Now, with us getting ready to move into our own place again - looking forward to stocking a pantry, and tending to my family in my own way - I'm on the search for recipes we've loved and lost, and new ones to try. I thought I'd share a few of my finds. Whole Foods Market Christina Cooks Whole Foods for Life Have you shopped at Lehmans?

They have this Pressure Handwasher I've been pining after forever. This morning, I printed out the order form and I'll discuss it with Dh when he comes home for the weekend tomorrow. Has anyone had any experience with this type of washer?I'm thinking it would be a great convience for us to be able to keep up on our personal laundry during the week, leaving just our bedding to bring to the laundrymat. Not to mention the $avings! I don't want to have to choose between a small freezer or small washer in our new apt. - really, the freezer will save more, where as an 'apt' size washer will cosmall, but at 2minutes per cycle, I imagine it won't take much more than 10min per day to keet more, and we'd still have to haul our bedding to the laundrymat . The load capacity is sp up with our daily laundry. Esp. since I wear my work clothes more than once before washing. Besides, we're not going to have unlimited hanging space for drying - so it'd be best to keep it up on a daily so we can hang it inside.Well, seems I've convinced myself. Now, for Dh ![]() { Last Page } { Page 1 of 2 } { Next Page } |
