2009-Jan-7To anonymous, my replyPosted in HomeI wrote a post on how we will not be able to buy used clothes or toys anymore. I received a reply from "Anonymous" Here is what "Anonymous has said: I think its a great idea. I think buying used clothes and toys is nasty and cheap. Do you know everyone single person who get them from. You have no idea what kind people sell this stuff. Do they smoke live on a farm with dirt and animals? Why not just buy stuff at the store that is lead free and made in America? Look for sales and buy it then. My Reply: 1. is I am dirty and nasty! I make my children dirty and nasty because we buy some used clothes! 2. If the old owner smoked , um here we go again SOAP! 3. Is I am a dirty yup, I will admit it! My daughter Kristi was verry sick on summer she had pneumonia and Shayna and I along with a hired man where building a barn. So we set up a tent with a bed and a air cleaner for Kristi. I went to go check on her and I found her in the pig pen curled up in the pigs bed of straw with her 500lb sow wrapped around her , she kept Kristi safe. So my family is odd. But guess what all the dirt washes of in the shower/bath. There is a wonderful new invention called a washing machine. You add your clothes and SOAP and it washes them This FARMER is proud to be a FARMER. I was not brought up that way. I was brought up a rich *B*. My dad is a famous singer, guitar player. I was raised with singers, movie stars and more. But you know what makes me happy?? My life as a FARMER , growing thing , animals. When I am done at the end of the day I take a shower and use SOAP to get clean. When I am done I slip on my Guess jeans & shirt, la mystere bra. I do look for jeans that someone bought and they did not fit , or wore a few times to buy. why pay $79.00 for my jeans when I can get them for about $20.00 on ebay?!?!? Did you know you can find brand new clothes at thrift stores? Yes, it is true. We find them all the time. We like some brands. I love Guess, the girls love Bongo and Candies, Roxy, but we buy them at a way lower prices than we could ever dream of getting at a regular store on sale. Anonymous get real ! My friends keep looking and buying used. The other people do not know what they are missing!! Finally my Dh has been feeling sooooo much better but I don't know yet how much this is going to cost us. First of all he saw the PA and they gave him three different medicines. It ended up I had to take him to the ER because he was feeling so dizzy. They took him off the meds and gave him new ones. Then he went back to the PA and put him on new meds and gave him a shot. Ever since this happened he has felt so good. Today I scoured our bathroom floor. The tile was turning colors again. I have to do this about 3 times a year and I use an old toothbrush with soft scrub. I have to do our kitchen the same way. Does anyone know of an easier way to clean it? For the last two days I have been hurting so much. My right knee and my back. As of now we're having rain and I hope tomorrow I will feel a lot better. Hate when I feel this way. I can hardly walk and have to use my cane. Now its 1 am so i better go to bed. Nite Nite all. Please check out my other blog there is some info on how we are not going to be able to buy used clothes anymore, it is a new law. God Bless, mj | 1 comments | Link 2009-Jan-6A MUST READ FOR ALL OF USPosted in HomeThe law in a nutshell. Do You Buy or Sell Pre-owned Clothes and Toys for your kids???? As of FEB. 10 2009 you will not be able to ANYMORE! In August of 2008, important legislation passed that was intended to protect children from harmful lead in toys, equipment and clothing. Although the intention is good, the bill that was passed is poorly written. Thus, it will prohibit the resale of ANY used clothing, toys, equipment for children unless you can PROVE it is lead free. This means that stores such as Goodwill, Salvation Army, Kid to Kid, Once Upon a Child, any thrift store, all children's consignment sales, Ebay sales, Craigslist and GARAGE SALES are prohibited from selling children's clothing, toys or equipment after FEB. 10, 2009 unless they have had the item tested for lead and can provide verification that it is lead free. This is SO detrimental to young families who depend on buying used clothing at consignment sales or thrift stores. This is also a problem for middle income families who sell their children's outgrown clothing at garage sales, consignment stores or ebay to provide the funds for the next season of clothing. Also, take into consideration what this will do to our landfills!!!! Can you imagine everyone throwing their toys away because the government says you are not allowed to sell them??? That's crazy! Anyway, below is a link to a news story in the LA Times regarding this new law that will take effect on February 10, 2009. Also, there is a BOLD HIGHLIGHTED link to a form you can fill out (takes less than 1 minute) and it will automatically send it to your state representatives regarding rewriting this legislation. Thank you from all the parents who buy and sell used kids stuff!!! Please forward this on to your friends and contacts! Contact Your Representatives by copying and pasting the link below. It is a super easy way to do it. Just fill in your name and contact info (email and address only) and they will do the rest! alertid=12274476
I think what some people are missing is that there is soap in the world, use it. Our landfills are going to be so full of stuff that can be used by people. What a waste. Buying used is not a crime nor is it gross. What is going to happen to all of these organizations who help support things like , cancer, shelters, homeless, people in need. They have thrift stores to help them help others. | 11 comments | Link Tuesday, January 6, 2009Beautiful Music To Praise The Lord!Posted in My FaithA beautiful song to listen to. http://hayovel.net/2008/06/27/new-song.aspx- Bless all who pass this way! Amanda <>< | 0 comments | Link 2009-Jan-6Happy Epiphany!Posted in daily lifeWe are having a low key Epiphany. I forced myself out of bed at 7:55. I really, really wish DH would come to bed at a reasonable hour since I can't get to sleep if he's not there. But he's got a huge round of meetings this week that he's prepping for. And at least he can prep at home and doesn't have to be in the office. So between less sleep and the weather front, my head was killing me. I did the interval workout and folded laundry and got together everything else I needed from the basement and brought all of that up. I need to make cranberry fruit salad for tomorrow MOMS group since we are having our Christmas party. I did however manage to help Joey get school done and THE TREE IS DOWN! All boxed up and ready for DH to haul to the garage. So I've vacuumed and the furniture is moved. And I just checked my Vera bag status--it went from Ft Wayne to Indy to Vandalia OH!ROTFL! But it's still showing today as a delivery day so we'll see. I JUST GOT IT!!!!!!!!!! It's perfect! And DH just called. The liberty is fixed and running fine. They'll bring it over tomorrow afternoon. He won't be home until late tonight so after hearing another lady talk about them, we're having nachos for supper. It's nothing DH would ever eat and I have the stuff to make it and the chips need to be used anyway. Joey's all geeked about All Bran crackers and hummus for lunch. He was singing some song he made up about it. I was ROLLING! Ok, OFF TO SHOWER!!!!!!!!! | 0 comments | Link 2009-Jan-6What we ate for dinner last nightPosted in RecipesBeef & Cabbage Pot 1 medium head cabbage (cored & sliced about 1/4 inch) 1 lb ground beef 1 onion 1/2 stick real butter 3 cloves chopped garlic 3 T. taco seasoning 3-4 T. chopped cilantro tad of olive oil salt & pepper juice of 1 lemon Put a little olive oil in stock pot. Add beef & onion. (My beef is not fatty so I did not drain. If you have fatty meat, omit the olive oil & then drain some of the fat off before proceeding) Add the butter, cabbage, garlic, taco seasoning & salt & pepper. Stir and cover. Stir & then recover until cabbage is cooked to your desired consistancy. (It took about 15 minutes here) Then add cilantro & stir again. Sprinkle lemon juice on top. Serve. We had this with some sesame flourless toast & it was great! | 1 comments | Link Monday, January 5, 2009Been wondering...Not worrying, but wondering, about the WAH Program. I've finished all my training and passed the test. Just waiting to be assigned to a project. And waiting. And waiting. But anyway...As I was wondering, not even really praying, just...wondering... God stepped into the gap and supplied the financial need. I have a full-time child joining my little daycare. She starts tomorrow. I ask that you pray for this little one. Her Mommy and Daddy are in the military. She arrived yesterday to live with her Grandparents, who live across the street from me. It may be that Mommy and Daddy are being deployed??? Anyway, this little girl has alot of adjusting to do ... coming to live with Grandparents who are strangers to her, also, being here with me all day, while Grandparents are at work. Pray that I can be a source of stability for her. Hope ya'll have a great evening. In Him, Jill (the big sister) This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it. | 0 comments | Link 2009-Jan-5Joey again........Posted in daily lifeMom, can I quit school? WHAT!?!?!?!? NO! You can't quit school! But I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I don't either so don't worry about it yet!ROTFL!!!!!!! | 0 comments | Link 2009-Jan-5completely exhausted........Posted in daily lifeYes, I am. I stayed in bed until 8:40. Mat was still sleeping (and slept until 9:45!), but Joey was up shortly after 8 w/me. I got laundry going and the new mattress pad on the bed. I can't throw the old egg crate and stuff away tho until I find out if this is what DH wanted. It was certainly much easier making the bed w/o all that stuff on there! The workout was some ball routine. It looked good in the previews. Not so much when I did it!LOL But it was an hour that I wasn't eating so that's the upside!LOL Kept moving on laundry. The dryer is getting BAD. I ran the towels thru twice and they were STILL wet! I've got some of them hanging upstairs to dry. DH vents the dryer in the basement in the winter and my hanging stuff has a semi-hard time drying so I wasn't going to add to it. Meanwhile, Joey dumped the pencil sharpener shavings, which is upstairs. W/DH's shelving project, I already needed to vacuum the basement. So I got to vacuum ALL THRE LEVELS TODAY! Plus I did some other picking up. THEN, cuz I hadn't vacuumed enuf today, I cleaned out the van. I'd at least like it so that if ppl peek in (DH has for sale signs on it), they aren't thinking it's a trash can on wheels. I sorted out a bunch of stuff and got it so that it's not repulsive. DH will detail it later so I just got the big chunks. I did find a missing pair of children's sunglasses and a water bottle that's been MIA for a long time. So finally at 2, I had all of my work done and sat down to eat Sat night's leftover salad. And clean the kitchen from lunch. And deal w/more laundry. And take care of the trash (cuz I was tossing things). I also took care of 2 phone calls, my neighbor called and Joey's gift from SIL came (so I had to answer the door for the maillady). That prompted him wanting to write a thank you card. They need to send a thank you to the lady yesterday for their kites. I did have the foresight to drag stuffed shells out of the freezer so supper is done. I just need to heat it. Which is good, cuz I've got a headache coming on in full force and the thought of one more ounce of work just might do me in. | 0 comments | Link { Last Page } { Page 3 of 5 } { Next Page } |
