Well the events of my life are most likely boring to you right now but I have to pack. I hate packing with a passion! Everything you have to remember and then the things you can't pack until the very last minute (e.g. toothbrush, deodorant.....at least I hope people don't pack those a week in advance and not use them!) But this is the ultimate packing. College. Now I have most of everything written down on a list, but I have that undeniable feeling of forgetting something. And I am almost sure that when we are about halfway down to Tulsa, I will remember.....and be mad. So that is how my day will be spent along with watching my 7 brothers and sisters plus 1 cousin. My parents are down at the Straw Poll today to vote and will be gone pretty much all day. This ought to be interesting being I am not considered the high authority in the house (the whole "mom wouldn't have done that!" or the "I'm calling mom!") and will have to keep them entertained. But enough about that, lately I have found the time to read. I LOVE to read but never have the time! The latest? The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. A novel by Mark Haddon. It is written from the point of a 15 year old autistic student. He is incredibly gifted in maths and does not like it when people touch him. The reason for the title is that in the very beginning, a dog that he likes is murdered and he wants to solve the mystery. But that is all I can say without giving it away for those of you who might be interested in reading it! Latest joke? His face was drawn but the curtains were real. Have a good day everyone! All of Musketman's little one-liners gave me the idea, and I remembered the paper I got from a meeting at work once with some funny questions. So here goes! ~Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak? ~Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough? ~Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet? ~Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle? ~Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection? ~Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard? ~Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him? ~Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets? ~Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"? ~If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes? ~Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale? ~Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized? ~Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance? ~Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end you first try? ~How do all those bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures? ~When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apolagizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well it isn't all right so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?" ~Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over? ~In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat? ~How come you never hear father-in-law jokes? ~If at first you don't succeed, shouldn't you try it like your wife told you to do it? ~And obviously if at first you don't succeed, then don't take up sky diving! ~The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends, if they're okay, then it's you. grad party

Today I had a graduation party for my Mom's side of the family, and it was great! Although now I am extremely exhausted! I have most of my thank you's written but have yet to put addresses on them and send them. Wow, it is fun to graduate and have a party but by the end of the day you are just exhausted and don't want to do anything! Right now our house is a royal disaster! But I haven't blogged for a while and just wanted to update everyone! Until next time....
A movie I adore~

So there is this movie that I really love, and it is called Pride and Prejudice. I first saw the movie when it was given to me at Easter and I must have watched it 5 times in a row! First of all I love the time period and I wish I could have lived back then, and second of all, it is just good! To many people it is probably just mind boggling that people used to act like that, but it was nice and they didn't have the problems we have today. Of course now we have technology, but what the harm in writing a letter instead of an email? Or instead of a phone call? Yes it may have taken longer, but that taught people to plan ahead. Now I am not saying that I don't like the technology we have today; in fact I use it all the time! But what would people do if we reverted back to that day and age? Many people would not know what to do, that's for sure! So if anyone knows of any other great movies from that time period, let me know! Normal

What is normal? All I know about normal is that mom says I should write normal, or talk normal, or do things normal. Kind of repetitive. Now I am not saying that I am some wierdo who talks, writes and does things abnormally, but life is more interesting when it is not "normal". For instance, I have a cousin who will go unnamed, that has the wierdest sense of humor. She is sarcastic and very subtle with her jokes, but I find her hilarious! While texting back and forth, she asked me what i wanted for a graduation gift. I just said whatever and she replied with, "I'll get you some hideous sweater that you will have to wear because I gave it to you and you don't want to hurt my feelings." To which I replied with a general, "then I will have to take a picture with it" and her response? "But of course. then next Christmas you can regift it to someone else...spread the joy you know." Now if you read this and think it is dumb, then maybe she is just funny to me, but if you laugh, you will know the kind of humor I am talking about and I can only hope you have someone like her in your family! The wish for rain

Right about now the weather is sunny, hot and humid. Kids are playing outside and sweating all of their energy out while mothers are trying to clean up or get something else important done. And what am I doing? Well, I am sitting here wishing it would rain. It is the perfect summer day but I love the rain. It's kind of dreary, and people are walking down the streets with their umbrellas and jackets over their heads. The air smells fresh and not of dust, or sweat and everyone is just kind of resting inside with a book or a card game. The perfect day to drink hot tea or make soup because it is just chilly enough that you won't be too warm to eat it. So as the sun starts to set, and the skies turn dark, I will once again wish for rain that is not going to be forcasted tomorrow or the next by our weatherman, but will be hoped for by me. Well, this is my first blog and I am the daughter of DorninkRefuge. I am 17 years old, (soon to be 18) and am going to Oral Roberts University in the fall. More like August 13th! I have not had too long of a summer being that I graduated on June 10th, and am leaving soo early for college, but it has been spent with family and friends and I am left with the comfort that college breaks are far much longer than highschool ones. Christmas? Almost a month, and summer? We are done about the 1st of May! What a difference that will be! I am sure there will be many more blogs and probably many pictures, but until then, Au Revoir. |
