cloth diapers

I used cloth on my youngest and I loved them .Istayed home all most always so I didn't need the convenience of disposable diapers. If I did go out the baby did not wear cloth because the ones I used would soak through if I didn't change him after he was wet. I could have used a leak proof cover but I couldnt find any. I think babies who wear cloth diapers are easy to potty train because they can feel the wetness and become aware of what they are doing. The diposable diapers soak every thing up so fast that the baby will not feel it. Some babies will wake up a lot more during the night if they feel wet and some will sleep right through it. I did save a lot of money using cloth, made my own,the extra wash was not to much for me and no stinky diapers to put in the landfill. You should do what works best for the baby and you,so that you both can enjoy the diaper years.I hope I was some help.

I didn't go to the site, but there have been so many 'improvements' on cloth dipes since our parents did this! They have some AIOs (all in ones) and you treat them just like sposies. You put it on (velcro or snaps--no pins) and then put them in a dry pail and wash--that's it! There are many different kinds of dipes and I used prefolds w/fleece and velcro wraps (prowraps sells seconds for cheap). Ebay is a great place to look for used dipes. And w/the dry pail, it's super easy to take care of them now. No lugging wet pails and slopping gross stuff, etc. Just dump in the washer and go. You can use baking soda to help cut the smell (if you have any) in the pail. I keep an old parmesan cheese shaker w/baking soda in it and that worked well (I clean w/baking soda tho!LOL).

Claire, I just went to the website and watched the video. I love the idea. I was impressed too that you could hold on to the diapers after baby #1 and let baby #2 and so on, use them. When you think about it that way you can really see what a savings it is.

Cloth diapers are great! There are many types to pick from. Some love flat or prefolds with pins or snappies others love AIO's or fitteds with a cover. My personal fav is a pocket diaper. You get the pluses of an AIO but they are much faster drying because you take the stuffing out when you wash them. Also makes them just the right absorbancy.
