Monday, June 19, 2006 - Julie's Organic Ice Cream

I just had some great ice cream this weekend, called Julie's Organic! This was the first time I had ever tried it. I found it at Whole Foods in a pint-sized container. I think it was $2.99. Not cheap, but when you don't get treats like this very often, it's not too big of a deal.

I got chocolate, of course. It is sweetened with organic evaporated cane juice. It is my understanding that this is not quite as good for you as something like Sucanat or Rapadura, but the next best thing after that (in the sugar cane department, anyway). Two thumbs up! Yum yum. By the way, isn't that a lovely logo?

I have to agree, it's a nice logo, I don't think I could of passed by without noticing it.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a message about sugars, and the links back to your posts, I've looked at them and they will come in handy for our family.

Thank You!

We've never tried the actual pints of ice cream, but we love the Julie's ice cream sandwiches. We only treat ourselves to them when Wild Oats has them on sale (which is not often!). I would love some good organic chocolate ice cream, but all that's available here is vanilla. *sigh*

Thanks for the tip- I hope to get to Whole Foods this Sat., and I'll definitely have to try some of this. Since the closest whole foods is an hour and a half away from home I suppose we'll have to eat it in the van (sigh). What a sacrifice ;)! The logo is indeed lovely, it would catch my eye in the ice cream section for sure.
