Bad news for UK home growers
|
As if we don't have enough in the way of food crises, what with escalating prices and being urged to 'grow your own' even if you didn't before, now along comes this news item, in the The Guardian alerting us to the fact than many home grown, organically reared vegetables may now be poisonous.
The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. What have we done?

Oh my! I hope your crops are okay!!!
"'All we can say is that the trace levels of aminopyralid that are likely to be in these crops are of such low levels that they are unlikely to cause a problem to human health."
Who are they trying to kid? The plants are wilted, deformed, or dead from a chemical that has been exposed to the elements for over a year and it's still doing damage and they think it's okay to eat it? I don't think sooooo. And what about those cows? Who is eatting their meat or drinking their milk now? Maybe someone should have a nice feast prepared for the Dow executives with the tainted food and see how hungry they suddenly become (not)?
I just forwarded the article to Jeff and told him our land full of weeds is looking better all the time. Thanks for the good reminder of why we do what we do.
Blessings & Love,
PlainJane

Oh, My dear friend. I'm so sorry this is going on. It actually sounds familiar though. We're having issues with people getting sick from tomatoes, then they blame it on peppers, then they blame it on this or that. While I don't think it's coming from independent gardens like the home-grower, they honestly can't track whats going on and where it's coming from.
So frustrating as I'm sure it's EXTREMELY frustrating on your end in the UK. Just breaks my heart.
Praying Gods hand in all of this and that He will keep everyone safe as well as they're food supplies.
Much love to you Jackie!
