Smoke in the Air

03:21, 2007-May-31 .. Posted in Farming the Yard .. 4 comments .. Link

We are about 12 miles from the Georgia/Tennessee state line as the crow flies, and our air is hazy and smoky today because of the wildfires in south Georgia and north Florida.  Well over 300 miles away.  I am keeping the children inside today because the air quality just stinks and I don't want to trigger anything that might require a breathing treatment.  I've only been outside to move the sprinkler around.

Because have I mentioned, we haven't had rain to speak of in six weeks?

Here, too, of course!

I'm a new blogger on here and saw that you live near the GA/TN line so I thought I'd leave a comment for you to say "hi"! We live about 60 miles from the GA/TN line and, yes, that smoke is horrible! We absolutely have to have some rain...SOON! Good idea keeping the kids in on a day like today. Unfortunately, my son has a baseball game this afternoon. Hope it clears off at least enough to breathe!

Ugh

I'm so sorry to hear about the wildfires! Wildfires don't happen on the west side in WA, but wildfire season for our "home away from home" in dry, eastern WA is August-September in the Cascade forests. Last year it was so far away, but we could see the sun with our naked eye at noontime (red) and the moon was blood red, even though you couldn't "see" any clouds! I got the shivers and thought about Revelation and the bloodred sun references. Perhaps the end times will be so full of smoke and disaster that the sun and moon look red to the whole planet.
No rain in 6 weeks! Goodness! I guess you've helped me put our drizzle in perspective. I never thought of Georgia as being dry.
I sent up an arrow prayer for your well.
Susan

You said you'd post a banner when the skies opened. What's a banner?
Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to nice, relaxed summer (from homeschool) with plenty of time to write books and blogs. :-)
