JASPER IS 21!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 21st birthday to my wonderful answer to prayer ... Jasper!! I treasure you and it has been my joy and priviledge to be your momma and to have homeschooled you during your school years.
Remember that you are the apple of God's eye and that you are created with a purpose for His Kingdom. Happy 21st birthday, Baby, and many, MANY more!
Love and blessings to you, Mommy<><
Tuesday
Its pouring rain here in Northern Alabama this morning and my prayers and thoughts are with two friends, each having serious surguries on Wednesday of this week. Both good folks, both tired of being down with sickness. I am praising God for their complete healing and favor in the coming days.
The children are all home now. School begins for our high school boy on Wednesday and I am ready to get a little back to normal here at the house. This week I am working on organizing the kitchen again, it seems we have so much stuff and not so much storage. Its mainly from folks in my kitchen that didn't know where things go.
This time of year I change out the dishes. I like to use different dishes different times of the year. They change as I find a bargain and share a set with a person or family who doesn't have any....right now its a farmhouse set that my Dad bought me. Special for he actually bought it himself....a rarity....usually gift giving was my mom when she was alive.
We are hoping for a buyer for our Honda Civic 2001. We found a Jeep Liberty that met our needs as a family better, thankfully one that we could pay for easily. The Civic has high mileage (201 K) but it has a been running perfectly and gets 38 mpg, so I am praying for God to send the right family by.
I am getting excited about gardening this year. I am a novice gardener, but I have been reading and talking to others and we found a little greenhouse at a yard sale for $5 that is going to help with our seedlings.
Today is the last day with Chase out of school, so I will bake up, cook up, and enjoy letting him have his favorites.
God is good! Trust in Him!
The Simple Woman's Daybook ~ #16 ~ 1/5/09

FOR TODAY...
Outside my window...grey, dreary, COLD day. But it IS a day that the Lord has made, so I will rejoice & be glad in it!
I am thinking...that this is a week of 'back to normal' and life will take on it's regular pace.
I am thankful for...the safe and blessed delivery of my friend's sweet baby boy on Saturday morning! This is my dear friend whose husband was killed in a motorcyle accident back in July. This baby is SUCH a miracle - it had TWO tight knots in it's umbilical cord and is perfectly normal!! One of the nurses told her that certainly the Lord let her husband watch over that baby to make sure it got here. Please keep her - and their (now) 4 children in your prayers.
From the learning room...Back to school today! On the plate are: Bible, American Gov't, Composition, Life Skills, Marine Biology and Nature Journaling/Art; gym will resume on Thursday.
From the kitchen...simple soup and sandwiches...or maybe salad for lunch; chicken breasts, snap beans w/almonds and garlic/rosemary roasted potatoes for supper.
I am wearing...jeans, burgandy shirt, blue 'house socks'.
I am creating...by tearing down. We will be taking down our Christmas tree and other decorations today. Boohoo!
I am going...to the grocery and the bulk food store this afternoon.
I am reading...Bible; reading through DD#2's schoolbooks and doing some extended planning...that I DIDN'T get done while on Christmas Break!
I am hoping...that an important appointment for DD#1 goes VERY well for her tomorrow.
I am hearing...Glenn Beck on the radio and the girls walking around up-stairs.
Around the house...putting things back in order after the Christmas decorations come down, laundry, homeschool...
One of my favorite things...newborn baby fingers and toes.
A few plans for the rest of the week: homeschool, gym, THURSDAY IS DD#1's 21st B-DAY!!! Practicing the 4 songs that DH & I will be singing at my mom's church on Sunday.
Here is a picture thought I'm sharing...

In light of DD#1's 21st b-day...wasn't this just yesterday?!?!

I hope you all had a Happy New Year!!! May your year be full of happiness a
Tuesday...
We managed to get the two younger children to Arkansas to be with their natural dad for Christmas on the 18th and so Les and I were home alone until the 26th. It was a quiet time, one that was unfortunately filled with some scary issues that happened to our 15 year old the week that school was out. He's okay, but oh what that child went through. We must always be viligant on who is influencing our children, not even adults we are aquainted with are safe, in our case, an adult woman was not at all as she was professing herself to be and it could have led to dire problems for son. We are so thankful that God revealed the issues to our hearts and sure enough, i after asking questions it was unsettling and we were able to prevent a huge drama from unfolding.
The children have had a difficult Christmas. Their father had announced he was to remarry, he had only known the young lady for 8-10 weeks. The children want their dad to be happy, but this was unsettling for them. They simply hadn't had time to prepare. She is 28, much younger than he is (44) and they simply didn't know her. Then when they arrived, he told them they were to have a new brother or sister. Sadder still was that after that news, a week later the young woman miscarried on Christmas eve. How sad was my daughter and son, for no one wants anyone to hurt that way at Christmas. My husband and I have been very prayerful for both of the adults and our children, for it is truly a difficult time for them to go through. We all have to let go of the past hurts and reach out, forgive those who hurt us, and go forward.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Divorce is never an answer without cost. The children always pay. I am happily remarried after many years alone, my children love their stepdad, but there is always a price they pay for their father's and I's divorce. always. We try very hard to not put them in a place of choosing where to be, choosing who to celebrate with, etc....but they often feel torn and then there are the things like practicing all fall for a Christmas program at church they do not to be in because they have to go to the other parents. Its simply sad. Many do not have a choice in their divorce, but ladies who are considering it as an answer, before you do ....get some real answers to what the true costs are for you and your children.
It is a time of pruning again.....letting go of things, thoughts, and patterns that do not help me to grow closer in my relationship to God. To be watchful of my heart and my focus, to make sure that it is on that of God and not led astray by satan's lies. I am so thankful for the life I have, bumps and warts and all....and I am most thankful for a God who loves me despite me.
God is good!
Sweetie
Christmas Eve Picture
Here's a picture our pastor took of us at church on Christmas Eve. (WOW! Do I need a haircut!! )
I hope you all had a happy and blessed Christmas and that your New Year will be even MORE happy and blessed!!
If you would, PLEASE keep us in your prayers. Sunday was our last day at the church we have worshipped and served at for the past 12-1/2 years. It's a 70-mile round trip and we feel that the Lord is leading us to serve closer to home. We have a few churches 'on the list' to try, please pray that we will be sensitive to the Lord's leading and land where HE wants us. Thanks.

The Simple Woman's Daybook ~ #15 ~ 12/29/08

FOR TODAY…
Outside my window…Lovely sunshine and clear blue skies letting in the COLD temps.
I am thinking…that I have A LOT to do today.
I am thankful for…New Hope Community Church, where we worshipped and served for the last 12-1/2 years. Yesterday was our last day because it's a 70-mile round trip and we feel the need to serve in our own community. THANK YOU to our many dear friends who sent us off w/many tears and well wishes. We love you, so!
From the learning room…on Christmas vacation until the 4th!!
From the kitchen…left-overs from yesterday's praise team Christmas party and then pasta, salad and freash bread for supper.
I am wearing…NEW Christmas jeans(!), red & white turtle neck; soft, fuzzy house socks my dd#2 got me for Christmas.
I am creating…new fresh bottle of face wash ~ 8 oz. liquid castile soap, 10 drops of tea tree essential oil, 5 drops of rosemary essential oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil. This is GREAT for oily/acneic skin. DO NOT use to remove eye make-up!! You can also use this for a shampoo or anitbacterial handsoap.
I am going…to the health food store to pick up some more flaxseed oil and Evening Primrose oil capsules. Later I'm picking up my order at our food co-op.
I am reading…Bible; "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks that my dd#1 got me for Christmas. It's SO GOOD. I am SO impressed that the girl who is the "love interest" in the story is a very strong, very real Christian. One of the reasons the guy in the story loves her so much is BECAUSE of her strong faith, her morals and her self-assuredness. What a great "twist" for a secular book!
I am hoping…that we will find a new church where we can serve to best fit our gifts.
I am hearing…the radio and our dog, Maggie's, little paws prancing through the kitchen.
Around the house…enjoying our beautiful Christmas tree for a few more days until we take is down on New Year's Day. Boo hoo. I love our tree and all the Christmas decorations.
One of my favorite things: my way cool new digital camera my sweet hubby got me for Christmas!! Woohoo!!! As soon as I learn how to load the pics onto my pc I'll post some! lol I do SO enjoy other's blogs w/pics so I'm wanting to add some to my blog, too!
A few plans for the rest of the week: To pick which church we want to try this Sunday. Ty & I need to pick out the songs we will sing at my mom's church on the 11th. We've been invited to do a 'mini-concert' during their service.
I just love this Christmas card. I sent these out several years ago and I kept one to frame and I put it out every year. I also scanned it and use it for one of my pc backgrounds.
