• Friday, November 21, 2008 - Baby, it’s Cold Outside!
I love this time of year. Its 25 degrees here in North Texas and it’s a time when lots of baking goes on around here and the oven is keeping the house nice and warm. My DH is not fond of the cold because he sometimes has to work and feeds the critters everyday even when the temperatures are nippy. So, in order to make his efforts worthwhile, I try to have the house clean and the aroma of his favorite foods after a long day of work. So, last night, I had DD bake homemade chocolate chip cookies and I made fajitas from the leftover steak we had the night before. The smell of onion, bell peppers, and sizzling steak along with fresh cookies seemed to make his day. DH also asked me if I would make a little bit of coffee after our meal. This always indicates to me when he is in total comfort and glad to be home for the evening. Needless to say, we had a lovely evening together talking at the dinner table and enjoying each other’s company.
I have lots of things I need to accomplish today. DD is having a birthday party this weekend. It will be at the local Dairy Queen. We have a lovely DQ here. It is owned by some wonderful local people and it is the perfect and easiest place to have a party this time of year. In addition, I decided to have it at the DQ because it is convenient for the parents to drop off their child while they run a few errands. And, it also has a playground for the children to play if the weather is nice. The theme for the party is “High School Musical” and I am having a friend make a Gabriella doll cake. Needless to say, DD is excited and I know this will be a memorable party for her.
My college class is going well. I am taking a Biology class and I’m in the 5th week of this 8 week course. My next class will be Introduction to the Gospels. After the BIOL class, I am finished with all core classes with the exception of the Bible classes. The university I am attending is wonderful. All my studies are online and I will finish my degree in Psychology soon. Since my grades are excellent, I will apply for graduate school. I’m not sure in what area of study I would like pursue, so I will continue to pray and ask God for guidance. My intentions were to teach public school. But, after looking at the other opportunities available in the teaching field, there are plenty of other options for me to consider. My dad works as a guard in a prison and he tells me that there is a need for good teachers there. My ultimate goal is to teach online courses. This way, I could homeschool our daughter and still work at the same time. But, whatever the Lord wants me to do is the desire of my heart.
Well, I could sit here all day and fill this page up with more but I think I will save the rest for another post. I wish everyone a safe and wonderful Friday!

• Wednesday, November 19, 2008 - Coming Back to the Homestead
Well, it's been a very very very long time since I have made a posting on here. But, I hope to get back in the swing of things and create a daily posting from now on. I really like the community of people here and I hope to generate more friends to share the daily musings going on in my nick-of-the-woods.
Like everyone else, I am getting ready for the great Thanksgiving Feast! Yumm! I don't know about you but I like to cook. So, I'm getting the menu ready, making a shopping list, and making early preparations for a wonderful time with my family.
Thanksgiving Menu

Psalm 111
Praise the Lord.
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who have pleasure in them.
Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures for ever.
He has caused his wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful.
He provides food for those who fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant.
He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy,
they are established for ever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant for ever. Holy and terrible is his name!
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
a good understanding have all those who practice it. His praise endures for ever! |

About Me
Hello family and friends! I am a Christian wife, SAHM, and college student. I have two wonderful God given children: a DS 20 & DD 6. My family and I have a 30 acre farm where we raise Boer goats. My husband is self-employed and I stay home tending to the household while attending college online. I enjoy my small town life in North Central Texas. Please feel free to stop by anytime and read my thoughts for the day. May God bless you and your family.
