Make sure you enter because I got 5 sets left to giveaway! ![]() Ahh... food! I love food! I talk about it all the time on Twitter & Facebook! Seriously I love food! :) I am pretty excited I can share my love of food with you this week as its the Homeschool Memoirs theme:
This week I want to invite you to share one of your favourite winter treats. A treat you look forward to making when the snow falls and include the recipe for it so others can try it out. This theme got me to thinking... I don't really have a special food that I eat in the winter... except for peanut brittle. During the winter months is the only time people give us it, so I guess it can be called my winter treat. I have never made peanut brittle, so I don't have a recipe of my own. So if anyone has a really good one, leave me a comment with it in it, so I can think about making myself some peanut brittle! :) Here is a Traditional Peanut Brittle recipe from The Nut Factory: ![]() 2 cups sugar
1 cup light corn syrup 1 cup water 2 cups raw Spanish peanuts 1/2 tsp. salt 2 Tbsp. butter 2 tsp. baking soda Heat and stir sugar, syrup and water in a heavy 3-quart saucepan until the sugar dissolves. Add salt. Cook over medium heat to soft ball stage (234 degrees). Add peanuts at 250 degrees. Cook to hard crack stage (290 degrees), stirring often. Remove from heat. Quickly, stir in butter and soda. Beat to a froth for a few seconds. Pour at once onto 2 well-buttered 15-1/2x10-1/2x1-inch pans, spreading with spatula. If desired, cool slightly and pull with forks to stretch thin. Break up when cold. Yield: About 1-1/2 pounds of peanut brittle. I had such a great time going through all these great submissions! I am so glad I was able to feature yours, if you submitted one! I had a really hard time figuring out what theme I wanted to use for my edition, and finally asked Mama if she had any ideas. She threw me some and one of them was Proverbs 31 Woman. I thought about that and didn't really think I wanted to do it, so I kept thinking about another theme. Finally got out my bible to read the scripture to see how I could use it as my theme. So without anymore talking, er, typing, here is how being the Proverbs 31 woman relates to The Homesteading Carnival! Proverbs 31:14
