I had the best weekend, and I got to go on my very first shopping adventure at a "Whole Foods" grocery store! Earlier that day I was treated to a one hour massage, which was a gift certificate I had received from my dear husband a couple months ago. It was heavenly...the day spa I went to was located at one of my favorite little shopping places, country village. There are cute little shops of all sorts mixed in with tea rooms, and bakeries, and this day spa. There are also chickens, ducks, and bunnies that roam the grounds. In fact, when my massage was done, I walked out of the place and was greeted by a big red hen standing outside! I love to escape to places like this, and I get lost in all the shopping and antiquing.
Now on to Whole Foods. Since I have been on this very restrictive diet to combat my food allergies and candida, I have learned so much about nutrition. There are some things I just cannot find at the health food stores in my town that I need for many of the recipes I am trying to make. So, on our way home we stopped at Whole Foods, and I was like a kid in a candy store. It was so fun to find a place that is so organic, and has every little quirky bit of ingredient you need. It was also like finding a gold mine, because some days it is such a struggle to find something I am allowed to eat, and I found many things there that were okay for me to have! I quickly filled up my cart, and then to my surprise, I got to the other side of the store and found that there was a sort of restaurant atmosphere there. They had a salad bar that had many areas with different foods such as indian, asian, and mexican foods that were all prepared and ready to eat. The wonderful thing about this was that every entree had a little tag stating the name of the food and each ingredient in it. So, for people like me, this was incredible! I was able to actually "eat out" for the first time in many months! And everything I was eating was wholesome, healthy, and organic! I can't wait to go back! This store is a couple hours from where I live, but it is located in an area I frequent occasionally, so I am thankful for that. I am going to try to list some of what I eat since I have had several people asking about how I am doing this, and what I do eat. I will also occasionally include more recipes as I try them out and find some that are actually good, like the faux chocolate, and the flax muffins I have posted in the past.
Tonight for dinner we had:
Organic roasted chicken with garlic Peas Mashed potatoes Peppermint water
