Prince Caspian... Could I be More Disappointed?

I am very sorry, indeed very sorry, and upset that Prince Caspian movie was not at all to my liking. I am a big make-sure- the-movie-is-like- the-book kind of person. After seeing this movie, I am not sure I will be seeing the others. It's a great movie, that's no mistake. But for a person who loved the books and was very much anticipating seeing the movie, I did not like it. Perhaps if I had not read the books, I would have liked it more, but having read them, they completely ruined the movie. It could have been so fun. But alas, as they do all movies, the only things that were right in it were:
The names of the characters.
The places.
And about 5 of the scenes.
Disappointing?

Plus, the timeline was off... which kind of confused things... and I hated the way they made it when Prince Caspian is fleeing from the palace after the birth of his uncle's son. They should have made it longer. Another scene which I wished the would have made the way in the book was when Prince Caspian meets the Pevensies.

I would not recommend anyone to see this if they have a love for the books. What
we knew in the books, what C.S. Lewis wrote, his whole world of Narnia, is changed in the movie. You will be disappointed with it, as I was. I am not saying to *not* go see it. I am only saying that if you think it will be like the book, it is not. I was mad at the ending of it. What they did with Susan went totally against her character, along with Prince, or I should say 'king' now, Caspian. You will be surprised at what she does. There was an unnecessary romance between Caspian and Susan. I was mad about that. I am not going to tell you what they do, unless you are not going to see it, because I don't want to give away any part of the movie.

The first one, The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe was almost *exactly* like the book. I thought that Prince Caspian would be also. I know I am just picky about books people try to make movies out of. I am sure a lot of people enjoyed it. I enjoyed it, but I could not stop saying to myself, "That part is not in there" or "That is so totally wrong" or "Why did they do that?" :(

In the poster I put on there, which was the only one I could find, Prince Caspian looks a little evil. I wanted more of a close-up picture of the Pevensies, but that was the only one I could find. the problem was, what I had imagined while reading the books, I expected to be in the movie. I was so excited that it was actually going to come to life. But I was wrong.

After we left the theater, we went to Wal-Mart to take back a shirt Jocelyn bought, but didn't like. While we were there, I got three shirts. One was a burnt orange, one was a light, almost teal type of blue, and one was white with a red, white and blue bird swooping down on it, with the words, "Forever Freedom". It goes with the whole Fourth Of July thing. They only cost $4.00 each... so I am hoping to go back and get some more. They had different colours.

I am not a CS Lewis fan, although I did enjoy the LWand the W movie, but I do sympathise with you on this - I hate it when they change it from the original - such arrogance don't you think? Actually, I am very, very distantly related to the producer of these movies. He is the cousin of my sister-in-law and used to babysit my nieces and nephews.

Thansk for the warning on the movie. My hubby has read all the books, and honestly, I think he knows them almost by heart. LOL I hope he is not too disappointed by the movie, but I am sure he will sound just like this post when we walk out of the movie theater next weekend. We are planning on celebrating our honeymoon in the city and part of it is seeing the movie.

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

It's been years since I read Prince Caspian. (unfourtunatly....) I had planned to reread the book before going to see the movie, but it just didn't happen. I'm going to see it tonight with some of my friends. I'm a pretty fast reader though, maybe I could read the whole thing today!!
Long time no comment. How are you?
I'm doing well, except for the wound on my foot. I don't know if Jocelyn told you I stepped on some glass? Well, anyway, I did and I have 5 stiches.
Talk to you (hopefully) soon!
