The Summer Adventures of Madge, Chapter Four, Nevada
|
A week after VBS we headed to my grandma's house in Silver Springs, Nevada.
On the way down we stopped at Goose Lake to camp for the night. So while mom made dinner it was my job to help dad set up the tent. It was a new one so it took us awhile to figure it out but when we were done it looked great (in my opinion, dad thought it wasn't right) and after dinner we went went to bed. The next morning we woke up, ate, repacked the tent, and were on our way.
The next day around dinner time we got to my grandma's house. The first few days we just relaxed and were lazy, except for a few minor trips to town for food and video games=] Then on Thursday we went to Virginia City. For those of you who don't know much, or anything, about here's a little about it.
Virginia city was one of the richest mining towns of the 1850's. The first miners were looking for gold, but instead found silver, lots and lots of silver. A little gold was found, but the city flourished mostly on silver exportation. In 1864ish there was a big fire that burned down most of the town, but because of the wealth of the community they were able to completely rebuild it. There are some really neat old churches and buildings, and most of them you can go inside. It's a really neat place and you should try to visit it sometime. Here are some pictures, luckily my dad takes a lot of pictures=]
Here is a beautiful old house with a history. . .

Read this sign that was on the fence of this house.
Here is one of the old churches, this one is "Saint Mary's in the Mountains" cute name I think=] Isn't it pretty?

Here is a retired train.

Well there's my favorite Virginia City pictures I'll have the rest of the trip posted by tomorrow=]

Random Insanity
|
A friend sent me this in a email and I thought I would share them. It's just a list of 10 of silly, random things that made me laugh=]
1. At Lunch Time, Sit In Your Parked Car With Sunglasses on and point a Hair Dryer At Passing Cars. See If They Slow Down.
2. Page Yourself Over The Intercom. Don't Disguise Your Voice.
3. Every Time Someone Asks You To Do Something, ask If They Want Fries with that.
4. Put Your Garbage Can On Your Desk And Label it 'In'.
5. Put Decaf In The Coffee Maker For 3 Weeks. Once Everyone has Gotten Over Their Caffeine Addictions, Switch to Espresso.
6.Order a Diet Water whenever you go out to eat, with a serious face.
7.Go To A Poetry Recital. And Ask Why The Poems Don't Rhyme?
8. When The Money Comes Out The ATM, Scream 'I Won! I Won!'
9. When Leaving The Zoo, Start Running Towards The Parking lot, Yelling 'Run For Your Lives! They're Loose!'
10.Tell Your Children Over Dinner, 'Due To The Economy, We Are Going To Have To Let One Of You Go.'
Well they they made me laugh anyway=]

The Summer Adventures of Madge, Chapter Three, VBS
|
After camp was over I had a whole week's break before it was time for our church to do it's annual Vacation Bible School. This year I was asked to be in the skits.
The theme was "Serving" so for skits me and a group of other kids from the church played the Snobsons, a "snobby" family, (the name says it all=]) They were a lot of fun and I don't think there was a day when someone didn't get some moist or wet substance thrown on them=]
Over all I think every kid took something away from it. The volunteers worked really hard to make it a fun week and I really think it payed off through the kids.

The Summer Adventures of Madge, Chapter Two, Summer Camp
|
About week after getting back from Mexico I was off to Grove Christian Service Camp, a camp I've gone to for years. The first week I was there as a camper, we spent the week getting to know each-other and God better, it was great to get that break from the stress of the "real world."
After getting back from that camp I had a two day break, to wash and repack my backpack, then it was time to go back to wash dishes and help out in the kitchen. This week seemed to take forever! It's fun to help out, but by the end of the second week I was tired out.
I didn't take very many pictures and what I did take would only make sense if you had been there. So I'll end this adventure with a goal. . . . . .TAKE MORE PICTURES=]

I ♥ horses
|
Hello everyone! I know its been a while but here I am.
As most of you know know I love horses. I always loved them of course it wasn't strange for a little girl to want a pony, but I never got out of the little girl phase.
When we lived near Portland I had four horses and a pony. Well, we had to move and they had to stay. Very sad for a little girl who was horse crazy, anyway, I never really stopped looking for another horse.
A year later I had a cousin offer me her six-year-old quarter house gelding. But our landlord said "no" to any equine.
That was sad but fine until as year after that(last week) . . . he came over and said that this lady was going to board five, FIVE horses on our field. That made me mad!
And on top of that he told they lady I had no experience with horses! Umm kay, after being in a horse club for two years and riding for eight and owning four horses and a pony, I have no experience.
Well Ive been struggling not to be upset at the lady (because she didn't know that I wasn't allowed to keep one, not five, one horse on our HUGE field) because its not her fault.
So this morning I went out to the field and hung out with the horses and of course fell in love with all of them. What can I say I didn't stay mad at her for very long=]
Well mom thinks after this that the landlord may let keep my one horse.
Until next time,
[=Madi=]

Dear Everyone,
|
Well its been a while but I'm back to blogging! The last few weeks have been quite busy. Lots has happend so I'll start with last Wednesday.
My grandpa had been planning to get his knee replaced and Wednesday was his appointment. The surgery went well and he came home Sunday. Sunday evening we noticed some strange looking blisters above and below the actual opening and he was running a fever so Monday he had to go down for blood work and they readmitted him. When the doctor saw it he sent him right back into surgery to reopen and see if the bone didn't settle. The bone was fine but he still had blisters and they were about the size of dimes and nickels now. They took some live cultures and kept him yesterday. The cultures show that he did have an infection and was put on three different antibiotics. So we got him home yesterday but, he has to go in everyday to get shots.
We have more more little ones. Little goats that is=] Three, two boys and a girl=]
I went horse back riding on Thursday and was given a spirited pony named "Oreo". All was well as we were riding through a field we went up a hill and on top he decided to start galloping=] Well I was fine with it till his foot slipped and I went right over his shoulder=] Just got a little muddy and a bruised shoulder for me=] But it was quite fun. I adore horses even the bratty ones=]
Well theres a short story of my life the past week or so at least the exciting parts=]
Until next time,

Blessing in Disguise
A friend sent this to me in a e-mail and I thought it was a very good point=]
Whispers
The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.
So the man yelled, "God, speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky.
But, the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said, "God let me see you."
And a star shone brightly.
But the man did not see.
And, the man shouted, "God show me a miracle." And, a life was born.
But, the man did not notice.
So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are here."
Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But, the man brushed the butterfly away . . .
I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted ... even in our electronic age.
The man cried, "God, I need your help!" And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement.
But, the man deleted it and continued crying .
Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way that you expect.
I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted ... even in our electronic age.
Have A Blessed
Day!

Well, after we got done laughing we worked on ours songs for awhile then went in the house and watched funny cat videos ( go on youtube and type in "funny pet accidents") Very fun day!

About Myself.....
Posted in My Wandering Path
Well I haven't really said much about myself yet so here are some rand facts:
God is my everything, is He yours?
Thursday is my favorite day of the week no particular reason it just is.
I'm a little on the geeky side.
I love wearing short shorts and knee high socks, no explanation i just do.
I don't really consider myself a complicated person.
Oreo blizzards are the best just cause i said so.
I can get lost in a good book for hours, books are the best way to spend a rainy afternoon.
Green grapes are better then red grapes!
With music there should be no awkward silences.
I love to be alone outside just simply doing nothing.
I drink lots of tea and coffee, especially in the fall and winter when its cold.
I sing all the time, it just comes naturally i sing without knowing it.
I'm a good listener, but i love to talk.
Well theres me in a nutshell=] Hope it made you see me in a new light=]
Peace out=]

A Poem
Posted in My Wandering Path
|
Daydream
Do you have moments when you feel,
That nothing in the world is real?
You think that you'll float away,
Then peer down at the world and say;
"So long my cruel and loving earth,
So full of sadness, joy, and mirth"
Looking up at me you seem to smile,
While showering teardrops all the while.
I'll gaze down at your clouds of cream,
And never awake from my daydream.
