Just another day?? of Encouragement

This morning I woke up and did what I do every morning. I woke up my husband and children. I  feed our indoor animals. My husband went off to work and my girls started school. We got our school work done and picked up the house. One of the ladies in my small group's daughter wanted to bring over a be-lated birthday gift for my oldest daughter.

That is when things started to change: I showed my friend our home and our garden. I also showed her where we are going to have our chicken coop and where we are going keep our worm bin. I then took her back inside and showed her our little plants under our grow lights. The whole time she was just so  nice and very encouraging. She loved our garden beds and all the plans that we are making for our new chickens.

Today God gave me a wonderful blessing by letting me share our garden and our yard with a very nice lady. I sometimes feel very discontent with our yard. My brother-in-law has 100acres+ We only have barely and acre. We don't  have any animals yet but we are hoping to have our chickens soon. I read about so many here on Homesteadblogger that have alot more than we do. But today I feel like I have so much more.

We should never compare ourselves to others. We all have different wants and likes. I have been reading of others that garden in the city using containers. I have also been reading of city dwells having chickens. We can garden and own animals where ever we live.

I am Thankful that God sent my friend over to show me  that I am truely blessed. It is funny we always want more than we have.  Oh, by the way my friend does own more land than we do she has 2 acres and she has a nice garden, grapes and raspberries.

I hope the next time that I visit  she will show me all around her garden and her fruit . I hope I give her as much encouragement as she gave me today :)

What a blessing your friend is!

It's ironic - I finally feel encouraged, now that we are out of an apartment (for almost 10 months now), and in our very own home. I feel land rich, and run around proudly talking about our quarter-acre! We were without soil for so long that I feel like we live on a farm now. My hubby is constantly reminding me that we don't - that we in fact live in the suburbs, right close to one of the largest malls in the metro area, and no, it wouldn't be exactly "cool" (to him at least) to have two goats and a henhouse of chickens in our back yard, LOL.

Have you seen the website for that family in California? I can't remember the name of it of the top of my head - but I think they have a city acre, and Wow! Their story is amazing - gardening, making bio-fuel, chickens - very inspiring. You can find the link on Amy's Humble Musings, if you want to take a peek.

Glad to see you posting - praying all good and wonderful things for you and yours! :-)

Love,
Laura

I just wanted to tell you that we were supposed to have moved out to a country house and it just did not work out that way. So we are in town with a large lot. And as a matter of fact my husband just started my chicken coop today and my veggie sprouts are all up on my sun porch and looking healthy. Getting ready to go out into my garden in May. The Lord just sees us through these seasons and every once in a while we look around and say, "Okay Lord, thank you for what I have, it is sufficient for me". Keep up your positive attitude, I enjoy hearing of others like me.

What a wise statement you made....we truly are a blessed people...and what a gift that you saw that through a friend. God's "jewel" for you that day.

Blessings,

Connie

Hello!
Actually, the comments I don't like are ones that are left by people who don't leave their names. ;-)
Thanks for your comment! :-) Yes, right now I am doing the 'Naturally Healthy Home Study Course' for my 'higher learning'. I really like it. It is Nutrition from a Biblical viewpoint which I really liked. :-)
If you have anymore questions go ahead and leave me another comment. :-)
Have a great day!
Joy
