The Job Situation

Dave is still employed. We are thankful. Those who became unemployed this past Monday were simply asked not to come back the next day. However, the company was good to them - two week's pay for every year of service. For some of them this would have been a huge amount. The company wasn't obligated by contract to do this, they chose to.
However, I'm still glad it wasn't us. Dave has been moved to another area of the facility, a lower-stress position. The job he was doing had a couple of unpleasant features - very little physical activity accompanied by a high level of vigilance. It was, er, a highly combustible area, basically.
Don't know what's next, but things seem to have settled down for now. He said the atmosphere among the workers was "poisonous" the day after, but that's only to be expected. Even if you turn out not to be the guy on the block, it's still a shake-up.

oh wow, that is nice. I breathed a sigh of relief for you! I know the feeling - we have been there a lot (a number of times at the old old work, and once at the most recent), and we have always made the cut... then we leave for a new job, and then the company goes under. and we have friends still there and we feel bad for them.
I am glad he is doing lower stress work. that will make things a lot easier.

ps - I am almost curious to look up christian natural living just to be sure you did not make that up!
