This is what our farmstead looks like from above. Our field trip for today was a plane ride with a co-worker of Breakneck's, a very nice guy who shall be receiving some Thank-You Baking next shift. The whole story is here.

You can see our giant dairy barn-turned-bee-housing at the end of the lane. in between it and the house are two garages in a very stupid location, something we've been meaning to change for years (maybe this coming one it'll happen). Behind the garages to the north is a defunct corral, and there's a tiny shed beside it that is now my potting shed/mini-greenhouse. The reason our lane stands out so is because it had to be built up for the dairy tanker-trucks by the original owners.

Way in back, you can see the two ponds (dugouts in the local terminology), just icy hollows in the landscape. One is our skating rink, off beside the Acre Garden. The other is our duck pond.

Now y'all know exactly what I mean by "no trees." Other established farmyards are set off by thick, square plantings of sheltering spruce, willow and Manitoba maple (box elder). Our natural poplar shelter was destroyed by the mismanagement of a previous owner and his cattle. You can just imagine the wind that comes through here at this time of year.

That must have been fun! My Grandaddy has a little plane, and it's fun to fly around with him. He lives 4-5 hrs. away, so I don't fly with him very often. I enjoyed reading your story on the homeschool blogger.
