The Thing About Biodiesel Suppliers

Right now, we're getting waste vegetable oil from a certain restaurant.  Which is good, it's free, and all that. But -- the guy refuses to take any responsibility for the fact that his staff dumps all kinds of garbage into the barrel. Which leaves us with a ridiculous mess for which we don't have disposal facilities.

Today, I had the dubious pleasure of informing the restaurant owner that we cannot pick up any oil with garbage in it, and that if it doesn't stop, we're going to have to find a different supplier. Whether he actually takes me seriously or not, I really question, judging by how quickly he ended the conversation.

You see, when we pick up from a local restaurant, we actually save them a disposal fee from Rothsay, the large corporation that pretty well monopolizes the grease-disposal industry. so until things become more like they are south of the border, and restaurants are in a position to ask people to pay for their WVO, we are the ones doing the favour. We have a lot more people who'd like to see oil picked up than there are folks doing it, for the time being.

So, if you're ever in the bio-D production line, be ready to make it clear from time to time that you're not the local garbage pickup. And if you're ever in the WVO supply line, be respectful to the people who are saving you the disposal fees.
