Saturday On The Farm

We had a big cooking/baking day here today to fill up the freezers w/more lunch meats and snack food (a turkey, 2 chickens in crockpots, banana nut bread, sandwich loaf, variety of muffins and cookies). I’m also having a lot of fun browsing through Fran’s recipe file….she left it for Aja and I to enjoy while she’s gone.

The wedding last Saturday was lovely and the newlyweds (my dad and son-in-law's mom Fran) enjoyed their honeymoon in Hawaii. They’re now going to spend a week in Wa. and will be back here next Sunday.
Here’s some of what we’ve done around here today:

*Before 9:00a.m. routine done
*Normal daily maintenance chores
*Got the turkey in one oven, chickens in crock pots and started the baking
*dusted and vacuumed family room, living room and library
*Gardening while Littles played in the sprinkler

*Everything set up for the estimated 36 new chicks that will be hatching tomorrow
*I did some prep work for school, which will be starting back up next Friday
*Dh took middles to library and park
*Read alouds w/Littles and middles
*Early dinner and evening animal chores finished
*Dh is playing w/the Littles now and will be getting them bathed and off to bed in a little while.

The rest of the evening will probably be spent putting together a puzzle w/middles and popping in a dvd for the rest of us later on once middles go to bed.

I just realized you are back. Yours is the first blog I read here at HSB and one of the reasons I joined. Needless to say, I am so glad you are back.

Oh, Tam so glad you are back! I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how life was going for you all. I hope and trust that all is well and am delighted to find you posting your menus again- you are the one who inspired me to do so in the first place!
