Jordan Rubin's speech

Posted in Healthy Living

www.allposters.com

Friday night Bryan, Bryson, and I went to Christ Church of the Apostles to hear Dr Jordan Rubin speak.  Bryan has worked with him on several functions so this wasn't at all new to him.  I have read all of his books, plus I live in the "natural" world so not all of this was new to me.  However, the way he delivered his speech was really well done.  I thought I'd pass on some of the main points in taking control of your health and eventually weight.

Why do diets fail?  Primarily because they do not go on one.  They say they have, yet they do not completely follow them or they are wrong for them.  Also, when we go to the grocery store or we are cooking our meals we buy and make the same items so there is no variety in our diet then we lose interest.l

Eating for Perfect Weight

Myth #1- Have to eat cereal for breakfast.  There is more sugar and toxins in cereal than many foods.

Myth #2- All dairy needs to be skim.  We need the fat to help stabilize blood sugar.

Myth #3- Red meat is bad for you.  Red meat has the highest amount of zinc and iron than any other food which are necessary. It should be grass fed and/or organic.

Order in which you eat your food determines weight

1st protein

2nd veggie

3rd sweet veggie or fruit

4th bread

Don't eat carbs naked

Combine carbs with fat or fiber

Key to controlling weight is controlling glucose

How to cheat?

2-3 times per week have a healthy breakfast and lunch, then for 60 minutes eat whatever you want.

Never/Drink eat artificial sweetners

They do not work

They are addictive because they are poisoning your brain and then your brain wants more

They are a drug

They are dangerous because of neurotoxins

Extra virgin coconut oil

helps your metabolism

May use in cooking high heats.  When sauteing veggies use coconut oil instead of butter sometimes.

Drink for Perfect Weight

Water- 1 oz for half your body weight

HealthyPerceptions filters out more chemicals than any local spring water.  You do not want to drink chlorine.  However, purchasing bottle water is terrible for the environment and sometimes the plastic can get into blood stream.

May drink organic herbal teas and/or organic coffee with cream.  No sugar except honey or agave nectar

SPE (Snacks ready to Eat)

Need to eat every 3 hours to stabilize blood sugar.

trail mix

Jenny's macaroons

Fucothin protein bar

Supplements needed

Cod liver oil is a must

Fucothin (seaweed) to increase resting metabolic rate

Get fit for Perfect Weight

FIT (functional interval training) can find these exercises at www.perfectweightamerica.com

Reduce Toxins for Perfect Weight

1- foods- organic or local (to find where go to sustainableharvest.com). All meat, eggs, dairy and poultry HAS to be organic.

2. get shower filter to eliminate chlorine in your skin cells

3. open windows, get houseplants, hepa air filters, change your skin and hair products to natural.

Think for your Perfect Weight

Reduce stress

Love yourself

Forgive others

Help the world

1. Be more environmentally friendly- 400x more toxins now than 100 years ago.

2. Raise healthy children

3. Choose life (live and share your experiences.

4. Have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Happy Earth Day!

Posted in Healthy Living

Good Morning Friends,

Yesterday was our first day without tv.  It was more difficult.  When Bryson came home from school and found out that he could not watch TV, play video games, or watch youtube he cried uncontrollably.  He could not deal.  I had to call my husband to calm him down.  My darlin' and I both agreed that this is a real problem.  Nick handled it a little better because he thought this was another one of my "hairbrained tree hugger ideas" as he so sweetly put it, but thought he would have my husband on his side because "you know Dad can't give up the news".  Well, I called my darlin' and had him say that this is an idea he 100% agrees with and Nick is gonna have to get over it.  So, Bryson and I went out to play football while Nick skated.  Unfortunately, Bryson spent the whole time crying because of his paralyzing fear of bees and I sent him inside after 15 minutes.  Does anyone have any ideas how to get him less afraid of them?  He almost ran out in front of a car to get away from bees.  So, we'll see what this afternoon brings.  I, however, am enjoying hearing all of the birds outside rather than Spongebob Square pants.

I have been thinking about Earth Day.  Ya know we are so blessed to have all that we do.  Why does it take the polar bears losing their homes, or football fields full of garbage, or chemicals in our water to wake us up?  EVERYTHING WE HAVE IS BECAUSE THE LORD ABOVE GAVE IT TO US!!!  It is our responsibility to take care of it.  Your grandchildren will possibly have such unclean air that they will die from carcinogens giving them lung cancer (that is if the rapture doesn't happen first).  Their rivers and lakes will be so polluted that they cannot even swim in nor play near them.  Please, continue reading this week and follow simple tips to help our future generations as well as our own.

Have a blessed day!

PS We are tv free, but if you are not HGTV is having an all day Earth 2008 special.

50 Green Tips for Earth Day and Beyond

By: Kathleen J. King (Little_personView Profile)

It doesn't have to be Earth Day for me to think about how I can make an impact (or less of an impact) on our planet. Here are a few of my favorite tips:

1. Lower your thermostat. Buy a programmable thermostat.

2. Reuse your water bottle. Avoid buying bottled water. In fact, reuse everything at least once, especially plastics.

3. Check out your bathroom. Use low-flow faucets, showerheads, and toilets.

4. Start a compost in your back yard or on your rooftop.

5. Buy foods locally. Check out Eat Local Challenge and FoodRoutes to get started. Buy locally made products and locally produced services.

6. Buy in season.

7. Buy compact fluorescent light bulbs. You'll find more on energy-efficient products and practices at Energy Star.

8. Turn off lights and electronics when you leave the room. Unplug your cell phone charger from the wall when not using it. Turn off energy strips and surge protectors when not in use (especially overnight).

9. Recycle your newspapers.

10. Car pool. Connect with other commuters at eRideShare.

11. Consider a car sharing service like Zipcar.

12. Ride a bike.

13. Walk, jog, or run.

14. Go to your local library instead of buying new books.

15. At holidays and birthdays, give your family and friends the gift of saving the earth. Donate to their favorite environmental group, foundation, or organization.

16. Get off junk mail lists. GreenDimes can get you started. They’ll even plant a tree for you!

17. Buy products that use recyclable materials whenever possible.

18. If you use plastic grocery bags, recycle them for doggie poop bags or for small trashcan liners.

19. Bring your own bags to the grocery store. Given a choice between plastic and paper, opt for paper.

20. Buy locally. Find farmers’ markets, family farms, and other sources of sustainably grown food near you at LocalHarvest.

21. Consider organic cleaning products like vinegar, borax, and baking soda.

22. If you have a baby, consider using cloth diapers. To sign up for a diaper service to do the dirty work, check out the National Association of Diaper Services.

23. Consider buying a fuel-efficient car or a hybrid.

24. Landscape with native plants. Check out the article on the EPA website.

25. Opt into a clean energy program. Check out the Green Power Network at the US Department of Energy.

26. Go paperless. Consider reading your newspaper and magazine subscriptions online. Switch to electronic banking and credit card payment, too.

27. Teach kids about the environment.

28. Take your batteries to a recycling center. Earth 911 gives you the scoop.

29. Turn your car off if you’re going to be idle for more than one minute.

30. Do full loads of laundry and set the rinse cycle to “cold.”

31. Recycle. If you’re not at home, take the extra steps, (literally), to find that recycling can.

32. Reuse. Plastic food containers make good crayon and marker holders. Use padded envelops more than once. Buy your toddler or preschooler’s clothes from a thrift shop and give away those that don’t fit to friends. Goodwill or the Salvation Army can help.

33. Limit the length of your showers. Even better, take a “navy shower,” shutting off the water while soaping up and shampooing.

34. Don’t run the water when brushing your teeth. Learn about water scarcity.

35. Wash towels after several uses.

36. Purchase one case of water and provide clean water to 24 people (for over twenty years).

37. Give away your goods and find new ones at FreeCycle.

38. Recycle your technology. Dell, Hewlett Packard, Apple, and IBM, among others, offer recycling programs.

39. Go zero! Log on to the Conservation Fund’s Carbon Zero Calculator and in less than five minutes, you can measure and then offset your carbon dioxide emissions by planting trees.

40. Put your money where your mouth is—invest in green investments. Web sites like Co-op America's National Green Pages™ can help.

41. Learn about threats to ocean life and help Greenpeace take action.

42. Whenever you can, try using green cleaning products. Check out Cheap, Clean, and Green.

43. Find your local watershed and learn how to protect it.

44. Build a greener home.

45. Opt for eco-friendly and holistic health products.

46. Good to the last drop. Switch to fair trade coffee.

47. Go paperless at work. Distribute company information and post company material online.

48. Eliminate junk mail at work. For no fee, the EcoLogical Mail Coalition will eliminate the junk that former employees receive at work.

49. Plant a forest and feed a family while you’re at it.

50. Shop smart. Choose eco-smart products.

Announcement

Posted in Healthy Living

I have an announcement today.  I have come to the realization that I am 100% certifiable tree hugger.  Yes, Hello, my name is Farrah and I am obsessed with living green.  In the light of Earth day on Tuesday, I think it is finally time to admit that I peruse many magazines, websites, and tv shows on how to live green.   Of course it is our jobs to be good stewards of what God has given to us I have to admit that I find this new way of living totally, completely, and utterly fascinating!

So far, we have changed our lightbulbs to the eco friendly ones.  We have purchased the cloth tote bags from Whole Foods and Trader Joes.  I am buying primarily recycled paper goods, but I have decided to give up on paper towels.  Toilet paper, nuh huh, gotta have it.  I have changed my driving ways in order to save money on gas.  When renting a vehicle we only get a hybrid.  I recycle all allowed.  It just goes on and on.

Let me tell you how I knew that I may be taking it a bit overboard.  I am about to purchase feminine products, bras and underwear from Gaiam that are organic.  I know, I know, a bit much.  Also, when I was at Sam's club on Friday I found some cute organic cotton shirts and shorts and was through the roof excited.  My youngest was like, okay Mom, we get it organic good, please calm down, you're embarrassing me.  I'm going to try to give more tips on living a green life throughout the week.  Start here-http://ww2.earthday.net/.

By the way, wish us luck, for this Monday we begin turn off tv week and I'm not quite sure how well it will go.  My husband has agreed, but honestly, I don't see him giving up Glenn Beck every night.

Have a great sabbath day tomorrow!

Blessings,

~Farrah

Parabens in our cosmetics are toxic

Posted in Healthy Living

This evening as I was in the bathtub I was about to put on my new C.O. Bigelow rose cold cream.  I was reading the ingredients.  There were several ingredients that listed parabens.  That word sounded like something was wrong.  I looked up and on the Back to Nature body cleanser it said Paraben-free.  So, I had a few minutes tonight and decided to look up parabens.  I came across this article from the FDA.

CFSAN/Office of Cosmetics and Colors
March 20, 2006

Parabens

FDA has received a number of inquiries on the safety of parabens as used in cosmetics. The following information is intended to answer questions on this subject.

What are parabens?

Parabens are the most widely used preservatives in cosmetic products. Chemically, parabens are esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. The most common parabens used in cosmetic products are methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben. Typically, more than one paraben is used in a product, and they are often used in combination with other types of preservatives to provide preservation against a broad range of microorganisms. The use of mixtures of parabens allows the use of lower levels while increasing preservative activity.

Why are preservatives used in cosmetics?

Preservatives may be used in cosmetics to protect them against microbial growth, both to protect consumers and to maintain product integrity.

What kinds of products contain parabens?

They are used in a wide variety of cosmetics, as well as foods and drugs. Cosmetics that may contain parabens include makeup, moisturizers, hair care products, and shaving products, among others. Most major brands of deodorants and antiperspirants do not currently contain parabens.

Cosmetics sold on a retail basis to consumers are required by law to declare ingredients on the label. This is important information for consumers who want to determine whether a product contains an ingredient they wish to avoid. Parabens are usually easy to identify by name, such as methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, or benzylparaben.

Does FDA regulate the use of preservatives in cosmetics?

The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) does not authorize FDA to approve cosmetic ingredients, with the exception of color additives that are not coal-tar hair dyes. In general, cosmetic manufacturers may use any ingredient they choose, except for a few ingredients that are prohibited by regulation. However, it is against the law to market a cosmetic in interstate commerce if it is adulterated. Under the FD&C Act, a cosmetic is adulterated if, among other reasons, it bears or contains any poisonous or deleterious substance which may render it injurious under the labeled conditions of use, or under customary or usual conditions of use. For more on this subject, see FDA Authority Over Cosmetics and Key Legal Concepts: "Interstate Commerce," "Adulterated," and "Misbranded."

Are there health risks associated with the use of parabens in cosmetics?

The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) reviewed the safety of methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben in 1984 and concluded they were safe for use in cosmetic products at levels up to 25%. Typically parabens are used at levels ranging from 0.01 to 0.3%.

On November 14, 2003, the CIR began the process to reopen the safety assessments of methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben in order to offer interested parties an opportunity to submit new data for consideration. In September 2005, the CIR decided to re-open the safety assessment for parabens to request exposure estimates and a risk assessment for cosmetic uses. In December 2005, after considering the margins of safety for exposure to women and infants, the Panel determined that there was no need to change its original conclusion that parabens are safe as used in cosmetics. (The CIR is an industry-sponsored organization that reviews cosmetic ingredient safety and publishes its results in open, peer-reviewed literature. FDA participates in the CIR in a non-voting capacity.)

A study published in 2004 (Darbre, in the Journal of Applied Toxicology) detected parabens in breast tumors. The study also discussed this information in the context of the weak estrogen-like properties of parabens and the influence of estrogen on breast cancer. However, the study left several questions unanswered. For example, the study did not show that parabens cause cancer, or that they are harmful in any way, and the study did not look at possible paraben levels in normal tissue.

FDA is aware that estrogenic activity in the body is associated with certain forms of breast cancer. Although parabens can act similarly to estrogen, they have been shown to have much less estrogenic activity than the body’s naturally occurring estrogen. For example, a 1998 study (Routledge et al., in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology) found that the most potent paraben tested in the study, butylparaben, showed from 10,000- to 100,000-fold less activity than naturally occurring estradiol (a form of estrogen). Further, parabens are used at very low levels in cosmetics. In a review of the estrogenic activity of parabens, (Golden et al., in Critical Reviews in Toxicology, 2005) the author concluded that based on maximum daily exposure estimates, it was implausible that parabens could increase the risk associated with exposure to estrogenic chemicals.

FDA believes that at the present time there is no reason for consumers to be concerned about the use of cosmetics containing parabens. However, the agency will continue to evaluate new data in this area. If FDA determines that a health hazard exists, the agency will advise the industry and the public, and will consider its legal options under the authority of the FD&C Act in protecting the health and welfare of consumers.

As you can see there is a possibility that parabens can cause or contribute to breast cancer because of the increase in estrogen.  If at any point in your life you were on birth control pills you are already estrogen dominant.  So, why not try to get rid of parabens if you can.  Most all natural companies, such as Avalon Organics.  I was looking today at CVS and Pond's cold cream does not have parabens.  Go check your medicine cabinet and bathtub and make sure that there are no parabens.

Winter Perfect Cleanse

Posted in Healthy Living

As part of the program, PWA (Perfect Weight America), you do a cleanse for 10 days each season.  For the winter cleanse make the following recipe of soup.  For the first day, eat it for all 5 meals.  Then on days 2-4 eat it during daytime meals with healthy salad for dinner.  On days 5-7 add raw nuts and seeds after salad for night snack.  On days 8-10 eat soup for first four meals, but you may add 4 oz plain whole-milk yogurt or kefir and 1 tbls of raw honey for your third and fourth meal.  Fifth meal, add fatty fish and raw cheese to your salad.  This will help you transition into the Perfect Weight Eating Plan once the Perfect Cleanse is over.  Make sure you drink 3/4 of an oz of water per pound of body weight per day (OH Lord help me, I have got to give up my sweet tea!).  If y'all decide to do this cleanse also you don't have to have organic products.  It's always best, but let's face it, organic products (ironically since there's no pesticides) are more expensive.

Cleansing Chicken Soup

1 whole chicken (free range, pastured, or organic chicken

1Tbsp. raw apple cider vinegar

3-4qts filtered water

4 med onions, coarsely chopped

8 Carrots, peeled and coarsely chopped

2-4 zucchinis chopped

4Tbsp. extra-virgin coconut oil

1/2C fresh or frozen green peas

4" grated ginger

1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

6 celery stalks, coarsely chopped

1 lb green beans

1 bunch parsley

5 garlic cloves

2-4 Tbsp. Celtic Sea Salt

If you are using a whole c hicken, remove fat glands and gizzards from the cavity.  Place chicken or chicken pieces in a large stainless steel pot with the water, vinegar, garlic, ginger, salt, cayenne pepper, coconut oil, and all vegetables ecept parsley.  Let stand for 10 minutes before heating.  Bring to a boil, removing the scum that rises to the top.  Cover and cook for 8-12 hours.  The longer you cook the stock, the more cleansing it will be.  About 15 minutes before finishing the stock, add parsley.  This will impart additional mineral ions to the broth.

Remove from heat and take out the chicken.  After it cools, remove chicken meat from the carcass, discarding the bones.  Drop the meat back to the soup.  You may puree for even easier digestion.

Well, we'll see how it all goes.  I pray that I can do this for myself, as well as my husband.  Unfortunately (if you wanna say so) my husband doesn't have enough to lose in order to be part of the actual study.  The boys are both average weight, so its up to me.  Oh well, I can get it done with the help of the Lord!  I start tomorrow, yikes!

Blessings,

~Farrah

Perfect Weight America

Posted in Healthy Living

Well, it's finally happened.  My husband put me on a diet!  No, I'm just kidding he hasn't.  Although he wouldn't be disappointed if I finally lost those last 25 pounds of baby weight from baby #1 10 years ago!  My husband, as you may or may not know, is a Naturopathic Doctor.  He sells far-infared saunas for the home and office, as well as treating patients.  Dr. Jordan Rubin, also a Christian N.D., has written a few books such as "The Maker's Diet" that are very successful and helpful.  Dr. Rubin is on a mission to get obesity under control in the US using methods in the Bible with whole foods and exercise.  His latest book is called "Perfect Weight America".  My husband has been speaking with Dr. Rubin's "people" and Dr. Rubin's Father and Sister are patients in his office.  They are making a deal that if my husband's office (Bryan doesn't own the office, but is one of the physicians, wanted to clarify) Progressive Medical Center, sells Dr. Rubin's products and promotes his diet that Dr. Rubin will promote Detox America (their sauna company).  So, before Bryan is able to promote this product he wants to try the diet and the products himself.  He has asked me to follow it also.  I started the Fucothin pills and my stepson Nick tried the protein bars for breakfast.  We will give it a go.  I'm excited!  I'm the Female Potato menu plan and hubby is the Male Meat menu so I have to figure all of that out for when I go grocery shopping on Friday.  If you are interested in this you can go to Dr. Rubin's website at www.jordanrubin.com, buy the book at www.amazon.com or a local Christian bookstore.

Have a blessed day.

Fast Update

Posted in Healthy Living

As I thought, I am having trouble getting down the powder packet in the juice.  It thickens and gets lodged in my throat.  If y'all remember, I have severe reflux which causes esophageal spasms.  So, I'm just going to do the juice fast.  I hate that I will not be able to use the toxin absorber, but quite frankly I need to be able to breathe and function.  I will make sure that I do an enema at least every other day if needed.  I'm bummed, but since I can basically only have liquids I may as well have healthy ones!

My husband is doing wonderful on the fast.  He's already lost weight and his face coloring is so improved.  He told me that this has been the easiest of all the other times he's tried.  This, historically at least, has been the hardest day-day 3.  He said he's not hungry at all.  I'm so proud of him!  I hope he will be able to continue through the weekend.  I am physically forced to continue, but he isn't.

One of the wonderful aspects of my esophagus closing is that I have once again (and prayerfully the last) given up fast food.  I've told y'all about my addiction and it is strong.  When I took my stepdaughter to the airport on Tuesday, I got her Chick-fil-A for breakfast.  I bought myself a biscuit.  Would you know that I took 1 pinch off there, put it in my mouth, about gagged, and spit it out!  I've never spit out any type of biscuit!!  I was so proud of myself.  I would have been doubled over in pain had I tried that.  Praise the Lord!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Fasting

Posted in Healthy Living

For thousands of years many people have fasted from something or another.  Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights.  The main health benefits of fasting are giving your digestion and organs a rest, cleaning your colon and liver, losing weight, and after the first 3 days you have more energy.

Outside of health reasons there is a spiritual reason to fast.  When you rid yourself of toxins you really feel closer to the Lord.  You are much more clear headed and spiritually connected.  I feel like I can "hear" what the Lord is telling me.  I am able to make specific life goals and accomplish them.  I'm able to deal with issues that normally affect me easier.

Keep in mind that my husband is a Naturopathic Doctor so he prescribes this quite frequently.  Dr. Jordan Rubin recommends in "The Maker's Diet" at least 1 partial day a week of fasting.  Pick 1 day that will work best for you and skip breakfast and lunch and then eat a sensible dinner.  Make sure you drink herbal teas and lemon water throughout the day.

The fast that my husband and I are beginning is one we do at least twice a year.  It is a colon cleanse from Blessed Herbs (www.blessedherbs.com).  For 2-3 days prior to beginning we primarily eat only fruits, veggies, brown rice, and (hubby only) fish.  Then soup and teas for a day.  All of this is to cleanse a little before the big cleanse so that your body doesn't completely shut down from lack of food.  Then for 6-8 days, depending on when you dispose of your mucosal lining, you do a juice fast.  You drink organic apple juice that is not from concentrate mixed with powder packets from Blessed Herbs.  These packets contain psyllium, apple pectin, and bentonite clay for absorption of toxins and to keep you regular.  Again, make sure if you do the cleanse that you drink water and green/white tea throughout the day.  The first 3 days are horrible because you're so hungry, but after that your life seems to change radically because of the clear mind and body.  You know that you are finished with the cleanse when your poo looks like a long braided snake.  You'll think you are going to die because you can't stop pooing.  You then will feel so much better.  As with all medical decisions make sure you ask your physician or integrative medical practitioner.

Whether you fast for a week or for only a few hours.  Fasting can do wonders for your body, mind, and most importantly, soul. Please pray that I can get down the packets of powder for my esophagus closes up and I end up spitting up my food.

Blessings,

~Farrah

Eating Local vs. Organic

Posted in Healthy Living

As homemakers, we are always looking for what is the most healthy "thing" we can give to our families.  Thankfully eating real, whole foods is the "latest" trend in diets.  This goes along with the Al Gore going green concept.  The thing is that real foods is what we are supposed to eat.  Genesis and Leviticus give us specific guidelines on what we are to eat.  (If you are interested in specifics laid out in the Bible read Rex Russell, MD's book "What the Bible Says About Healthy Living).

I was, ironically, sitting in my hematologists office on Wednesday and found this article in Time magazine http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1595245,00.html.  It is 1 reporters investigation between which is better, locally grown foods or organic.  Obviously locally grown organic food is the best option, but when not available, what do you choose?  As homesteaders that grow their own food they know-local.  Why?  Check out Jeannette's blog at http://www.homesteadblogger.com/blessingsabound/ for a neat Youtube video on eating off your land.

In shopping at Whole Foods you will find a wide variety of foods from as far away as New Zealand.  It may be organic, but it has been on airplanes and trucks.  How do you feel after traveling for thousands of miles.  Fresh, certainly not.  There is a thing called airplane hair, ya know.  It's not pretty.  Organic foods do not have pesticides.  There are many studies that show that pesticides are toxins that can get into our lymph system and make us ill with a multitude of diseases, including cancer and alzheimers.  However, organic foods that have been travelling a good distance without preservation could also make you sick.  Just like if you have raw milk with great enzymes for about a week then afterwards you could get bacteria and parasites.

Those homesteaders that are farmers, when deciding what to plant next Spring really consider doing an organic garden and sell to local stores or farmers markets.  There could be BIG money in that.  Let me know if you are in Atlanta!

Blessings!

What TV does to your brain

Posted in Healthy Living

My favorite ND, after my darling husband, is Dr. Joseph Mercola-www.mercola.com.  On his website is an interesting movie and article about what television does to us and children.  Take a look:

Tea Tree Oil

Posted in Healthy Living

My husband, as a Naturopathic Doctor, works with herbs, enzymes, vitamins, and detoxification methods on a daily basis.  I only deal with everyday typical ones such as lavender (for relaxation), lemon (cleansers), spirulina (energy), and tea tree oil.  Tea tree oil is a versatile product.  It was discovered in Australia and has many uses.  Primarily I use it as an astringent.  It will zap a zit in 2 days.  If I have a sore or cut of some kind I apply it and again it is diminished rather quickly.  My favorite shampoo has tea tree oil as it's main ingredient.  Just keep in mind that tea tree oil has a really strong scent so I advise using it at night.  The main thing to remember is to always use 100% pure tea tree oil.  No synthetics-EVER!

Blessings,

Farrah
