Yea, today my oldest daughter and I will be sewing for our family!!! We are at a break in our sewing business and we will get to sew some of our long over due projects for our family!. She sewed a mock up jacket yesterday and we can't wait to sew it with our lovely new fabric!! Once she finishes hers then I will sew one as well. I also will be sewing a lovely gown and robe with lace edging for myself today! I have waited a while for this. I had hoped to get mine done before our anniversary trip but I ran out of time. I am creating the robe pattern and then adding all the lace from a civil war design I had seen. It should be lots of fun!! :) We are also sewing 5 new dresses for my youngest daughter. It is amazing how she loves her dresses and how quickly she grows. We can hardly keep up! :) And then my oldest daughter will be finishing up a princess line blouse she has begun sewing. It is just lovely and the fitting is so much easier with this type of design. We will then begin some princess line dresses as well for my oldest and myself!! OOOOhhhh so much to do and so much fun!! Well, much to do and the day is going to be busy!! Have a great day in the Lord, Kris M. Prov. 3:5&6

Glorious Day Dearest Friends,
Today is a beautiful day!! We are enjoying lovely weather!! Nice and cool and yet the sun is shining and all the high winds have slowed down. It has been a lovely day to sit back with my youngest and enjoy some of the sewing in my to do stack!! I have just finished 2 headcoverings for a friend and have 3 more to go. Also 2 more skirts for her. They are all cut...I just have to stitch them together.
God is so good....a day to worship Him and enjoy such simple things. I wish I could enjoy more relaxing days of study, prayer and sewing just like today!! To God be the Glory!!!

Dearest Friends,
I've had it asked many times "where does the name Josephine come from?" Well, the name comes from my Grandmother...Mimi Jo as we all called her. The story was as I was her "first grandchild" as she would often say and introduce me as. When I was little she kneeled down and said...you Kristie, me Jo. Hence the name Mimi Jo.
We lost her several years ago. I was blessed to stay with her 5 days and nights in the hospital. Though I would have never thought that would of been a blessing. I can tell you when it is someone you dearly love. Even being with them, caring for them in their final days, hours....it is truly a blessing beyond words. I could read the bible to her, care for her, make sure she had all she needed, pray with and for her, sing to her and well just talk. I was able to sit and encourage her for hours...just she and I mostly during this time.
See she was the one person in my life who no matter what, looked at me and with her whole heart would tell me I was just the most beautiful person. Not just outwardly but inwardly. She loved me with the unconditional love I imagine my Heavenly Father has for me. She taught me to love in a very special way.
So when my oldest daughter and I sat and tried to decide upon a name for our business...it was only her name that we both looked at each other and said...."that's it".
So we call our little dress studio "Josephine's" for my Mimi Jo. She would love it. She knew how much I loved sewing, crafting. She was one of my greatest supporters. She also knew how important it was to me to serve the Lord in everything. And sewing dresses for little girls has been a great joy for years. It is so hard to find modest little girl dresses. So to be able to share this encouragement to other Mothers and Daughters and also help campture favorite memories. It is a blessing. And one I know Mimi Jo would have loved to see the culmination of it all.
God is so good and greatly to be praised. And I praise Him for this opportunity and for allowing me to have my Mimi Jo for 39 years. She is with Him now and that is one of my greatest comforts and promises for my day when I humbly will be with my Heavenly Father and my 2 sweet little ones, that my Mimi Jo will be there to greet me again with her loving heart.
The Lord's blessings, Kris M. |

We awoke early to go to the dentist in the next large city. As we grabbed our "light" jackets and ran out the door late, I was greeted by my dear hubby putting anti-freeze in the burb. And then it hit me, everything was coverred in ice and my teeth were chattering. See I am a warm weather gal as are my children. My youngest was walking right behind me in a summer dress and jacket in hand. By the time I turned around and we were about out the gate I saw her teeth chattering. Nothing like an early morning and being late to wake you up quickly with that good ole northern icy air.
Have a great day in the Lord, Kris
PS- God even gave us the added bonus, even with no mail(remembrance of Pres. Ford)....that some anxiously awaited patterns arrived when we came home!!! More fun things to sew God is so good!!! |

Welcome to Josephine's Dresses,
This is a blog to share the goings on in our dress shop that is our family's home business. We are so excited to share all the Lord is doing in our lives!! I have included in our links section a link to our website: www.Josephines.us
We have so enjoyed sewing through the years for others and I have so loved sewing for my family. It is a blessing to be able to serve the Lord by serving others with such memory making dresses.
If we can serve you and your family in any way please let us know. We also will periodically post some of the dresses we have made.
Most importantly, please know it is a blessing to get to know each of you through these blogs and I look so forward to meeting new country (and those at heart) gals. The Lord is so good and blesses us as we serve Him in all we do.
Serving Him., Kris |

I just had to laugh and encourage my youngest sweetie to get that jacket on and as we waited for the car to heat up...well it dawned on me how great anti freeze is. And how the Lord uses these days to remind me of Him as my antifreeze. When I am late getting off and groggy from an early morning...I am glad I had time to read His word this morning and to let Him get me going. As these kind of days can really make me cranky...sorry to say. But because of my Spiritual anti-freeze(His word and prayer time) it had truly started out to be not my kind of day and ended up being a beautiful day! The sun (Son too!) has warmed my heart and this old body up to serve the Lord with a glad heart and even a happy face. God is so good!!!
